We are just getting started.

That was the key theme at this year’s Johnson & Johnson Annual Shareholder Meeting, where we celebrated our significant 2023 achievements and laid out our ambitious plans for the future.

Johnson & Johnson’s focus on Innovative Medicine and MedTech is unique in our industry. We are an innovation powerhouse and a leader in global healthcare. Most importantly: we are leading the way for patients around the world.

My greatest source of inspiration? The people of Johnson & Johnson. Let’s go J&J!

Decision-making is a team sport. If you are doing it alone, you are doing it wrong.

I shared this perspective at our annual Johnson & Johnson Leadership Development Program summit when I was asked how I make big decisions.

History may love a hero story, but in reality no individual has all the answers. Big decisions are made by groups of people, over a period of time, with lots of back and forth.

When making big decisions, I allow for a “maturation period” to consult with experts across our business. This sounding board helps me develop the plan. In the end, my idea rarely looks exactly like I initially thought. It is better.

When you invite others to contribute, you gain confidence in your final decision, and you gain advocates to help you execute.

Thanks to Tristan Janowicz, MBA for leading the discussion. Spending time with early-in-career employees always takes me back to the start of my career – there is so much potential and energy with these groups!

I’m curious: what does your decision-making process look like? Tell me in the comments.

Healthcare is one of the biggest employers in New Jersey. In fact, one in 10 people work in healthcare in the state.

At the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce's #ReNewJersey Summit I spoke to business leaders, government officials, and entrepreneurs about the state’s role as a global health innovation powerhouse and why we need to do everything we can to protect and cultivate it. It’s important for the state economy, it’s important for business, and it’s important for patients around the world.

Thanks for the conversation Tom Bergeron. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/epmuUT_g
