Noxx is joining DeNA Group.
I will continue to lead Noxx as CEO and grow the company further with DeNA’s resources. I will also be involved in DeNA’s new business creation and investment activities across Japan and the US, and contribute to the startup ecosystems in both countries through DeNA.
I believe this is the best decision for Noxx’s product, team, and future growth.
For the business background and what comes next, please see DeNA’s press release. In this post, I want to share why I made this decision as a founder.
When I make important life decisions, I always try to ask myself:
“How can I maximize the value I can provide to the world?”
This way of thinking started when I was 21.
On August 4, 2003, I started my first internship at Visionaire, an early-stage startup. In the first few days, everyone was so busy that there wasn’t a clear task for an intern like me. So I tried to do anything that could help. Cleaning, organizing, anything I could contribute.
A few days later, the CEO of Visionaire sent me a passage from Peter Drucker’s “The Age of Discontinuity.”
The line that stayed with me was: “one gets out only as much as one puts in.”
Drucker applied this idea both to life and to organizations. What we get out of life, and what we get out of an organization, depends on what we contribute.
This passage taught me early in my career that helping people and creating value for the world can also lead to my own happiness. When I’m focused on creating value, I feel less driven by financial rewards or reputation.
This idea is still at the center of how I make decisions.
Noxx is entering a new phase as a company, but I will continue to build new businesses and challenge myself as an entrepreneur in both Japan and the US.
DeNA is one of Japan’s leading tech companies, and one of the most active Japanese companies building bridges into the US startup ecosystem. I believe DeNA is the best partner for both my mission and Noxx’s growth.
Together with DeNA, I want to help create more new businesses and startups across Japan and the US that can compete globally. Noxx will be an important part of that challenge, and I’m committed to making it successful.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Noxx so far.
We’re entering a new chapter, and I’m excited to keep building from here.
