I am in the office working today (by choice) and look what I found! Let me introduce you to Elvis, and he's a mix that was rescued from a local shelter. He's tiny! This is the best perk of my job. I love working with amazing colleagues, especially the furry ones!

I'm beyond thrilled to share that I have accepted a new opportunity within Amazon; I have been invited to join the Corporate HR4HR recruiting team!! I have loved my time within my Operations HR4HR recruiting team and I'm so thankful for the opportunities my team and my manager gave me.

Growth fuels Amazon. The picture below was from May last year and all of us still work at Amazon. Upon closer inspection, I can count 13 different promotions or new roles for the group in the time the photo was taken. Incredible since there are only 12 members in the photo.

Our campus is adding massive biospheres based in downtown Seattle. Definitely looks like something out of an episode on Star Trek TNG. The glass spheres will be filled with plants from around the world. The goal is to create a working environment that is more park-like and exciting than a typical 'vanilla' office space.

I firmly believe that you are a product of your decisions and not of your conditions. Henry Ford once said that if you think you can, or think you can't, either way you're right. It's been my favorite quote since I was a little girl.

Many people don't know this, but I was once homeless, alone, and 17 years old. Through the kindness of others to give me a place to live, grit, and hard work, I graduated high school. It took many years of working full time and going to night school to finish my degree. I pushed myself to work hard for my expertise and on how to build a network. I earned everything in my life, and I wouldn't be who I am today without these life lessons. I did not become jaded because of my hard life; I became someone who wants to pay it forward. I'm proud of who I am and no one can take that away from me.

Here is my note to all those who feel hopeless. Never give up. NEVER. If you believe that there are things you can or cannot do, that will be your truth. Believe in yourself; believe in others. Do good in the world and watch how by serving others, you will see an even greater return. I believe in you. #asklindsay
