This week I had the pleasure of visiting our flagship turbomachinery site in Florence, Italy. It is always valuable to spend time with our team and I appreciate the breadth, depth and diversity of their expertise.

It was great to see the progress we are making in designing and manufacturing technologies that can be applied for industrial energy applications like hydrogen, energy storage and CCUS. This includes developing advanced materials to avoid hydrogen embrittlement and that can operate in extreme environments, like supercritical CO2.

I am always encouraged to see our teams live our Lead and Collaborate values every day at Baker Hughes, and they ensured our safety protocols remain best-in-class. Thank you for leading the energy transition!

Last week I took my first trip to Italy in over a year, to safely visit our team and our customers.

I was excited to join the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella to discuss our energy transition journey and specifically the role of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects as a new energy frontier. We signed a strategic CCUS collaboration with Rosetti Marino Group of Companies, and I can't wait to see how we progress our joint work in decarbonizing Italy together.

It’s been great to get out and begin seeing customers and colleagues again – especially when we have a new facility to showcase!

I recently joined our key customer Bechtel Corporation in a visit to our composite flexible pipes facility in Houston. This facility opened earlier this year and is a key part of our investments in non-metallic materials for Baker Hughes customers.

Composite pipes are easier, faster, and more cost-effective to transport and install compared to steel pipes - and they can be used in oil & gas, energy and industrial sectors. They will be key to transporting CO2 and hydrogen as we grow new energy frontiers, too.

What is the role of a Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, and how do they drive change in an organization?
