The London Underground was the world’s first underground railway. Today marks the beginning of a special year of celebrations for its 160th birthday. 
 
I was delighted to kickstart the celebrations and unveil a new roundel at Baker Street, one of our oldest Tube stations.
 
The Tube is a true London icon. I’m so proud of its history and I’m determined that the London Underground will continue to deliver a world-leading service fit for the 21st century, and contribute to a better, safer and fairer city for all Londoners.

Sikh Londoners make a huge contribution to the spirit and success of our city. It was fantastic to celebrate Vaisakhi with Londoners from all backgrounds in the heart of our capital today.

Today at Trafalgar Square we celebrated the ways London’s Irish community has helped shape life in our city.

Ahead of the day itself, I would like to wish a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone celebrating here, in Ireland and around the world. #StPatsDayLDN

The devastation of the Grenfell Tower fire will never be forgotten. 
 
My thoughts are with all those who lost their loved ones seven years ago. I will continue to stand with them and the local community in their struggle for justice for the victims and survivors 💚
