Tough day at the Daly house.
Today we said goodbye to one of our pups who had to go too soon. Our 8yr old Aussie, Remmington (aka Remmy) lost half of his body weight over the past several months and it was time to put him at peace.

We decided to have the vet come to the house. We said our goodbyes, told stories of how many things he destroyed and laughed. He was always our most trouble making pup.

Most importantly we just had some time together as a family to grieve. It hit the kids hardest. It was easy to forget he’s been around most of their lives…all of our youngest’s.

We had to talk about death and the hard things of life.

We also got to talk a whole lot about hope.

Life is always parallel rails. The good things and the hard things.

After he was laid to rest, we backfilled his grave and built a little memorial. Then we went to have some dinner together.

When we got home, we found half a dozen rabbits, enjoying the delicious buffet of dandelions we had set. That made us smile.

I’m grateful for the way Remmy brought us together as a family when we picked him up as a puppy, and the way he brought us together when he passed.

Life is so full of blessings even in the hard times.
May we realize them every day.
