Does Laravel/PHP scale?

I've published the repo "Large Laravel/PHP Projects":
https://lnkd.in/dbNq8R6K

I'll collect posts from people showcasing this tech-stack at scale.

This is my first idea how we can make Laravel/PHP more popular.

I think we, as Laravel/PHP community, have a problem.

I don't see many new/young devs starting with Laravel.

I also heard the same topic expressed by Taylor, Jeffrey, Nuno in podcasts.

Question: what can I/we do to promote PHP/Laravel to outsiders?

Let's brainstorm.
Another proof that PHP has a problem.

On vacation in Gran Canaria, I've just met two 18-yr-old guys from UK.

They both confirmed that all unis/bootcamps/high-schools in UK are starting with Python and JavaScript.

No PHP in sight.

Doubling my motivation to do smth about it.
Many devs don't write automated tests cause clients don't give time/budget for that.

Guess what.

Client will NEVER pay for testing as extra "service".

Do you pay extra for testing at a car repair? Or when you buy a new phone?

You *ASSUME* it's tested and reliable, right?

So yeah, in your work, you need to budget the time accordingly, to proper test your work.

It's part of your duty INCLUDED in price, if you do things properly.
Every Laracon reminds me that it's all about PEOPLE.
It's about who we build our ideas FOR and WITH.

But Laracon India was totally new level.

People here are different.

It's hard to explain in words, you need to FEEL how everyone is friendly, warm and welcoming.

Organizers.
Attendees.
Volunteers.
My Youtube followers.
Old friends I finally met in person.
Hotel staff.
Random tuktuk drivers.

Their hospitality and respect to guests is unbelievable.

If you're thinking of whether to go here next year, ask me. I was hesitating for many years. But it was sooooo worth it.

I'm flying back a little different person. With bigger heart.
