‘Ghar jaao, you don’t need to hustle everyday’ says Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor. We need more CEOs and managers like him!

Watch this video for this refreshing statement in a world that glorifies toxicity in the name of ‘hustle’.

“Why are you burning the midnight oil? Go home for your dog, wife, girlfriend, kids. Do something.”

“Some days, you need to work till late but not daily. You need to work hard, but you don’t need to be CRAZY”

“You don't need to hustle and work till 3 am every day”

He said during a conversation with Shradha Sharma at YourStory Media’s event Techsparks in Bengaluru.

“Those who say they work till 3 am, never say that they reach the office by 1 pm next day. I have a huge problem with that” he added

“This whole culture of ‘oh to build something great you have to give everything up’ is bullsh*t. You’ll die doing this one day, then what?”

This comes after we saw the toxic ‘hustle culture’ leading to the death of EY employee Anna Sebastian, according to her mother.

In a world where this ‘hustle culture’ is constantly glorified - with CEOs such as Narayana Murthy advising people to work 70 hours a week, and EY India head normalizing overworking - we need more CEOs like Rohit Kapoor!

If you work at Swiggy, tell us how the work there is! Does Rohit Kapoor walk the talk and has he actually created a healthy workspace?

And share this video to make this message reach more managers and CEOs.

A month after graduating, I visited ISB. And there’s one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about:

We take student life for granted.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but hear me out.

We’re so conditioned to always be hyper-‘productive’, to constantly ‘hustle’, that we forget to enjoy some moments we’ll never get back in life.

Student life is the last phase in our lives where our biggest worry is exams and assignments - it’s a privilege it is to have studies as your primary problem.

Once we exit student life, that’s when life’s real challenges begin — becoming independent, starting afresh in a new city, caring for aging parents, managing our own health — the list goes on.

Yes, getting a job through campus placements is a big challenge. But that’s not all that college is about.

By focusing all our energy on these challenges, we often overlook one very important aspect of student life - just having fun!

It’s almost impossible that you’ll ever again live right next to your closest friends.
(This only applies to residential schools, of course)

It’s almost impossible that you’ll have at least one meal a day with your friends — every day.

It’s almost impossible that you’ll have such freedom — to do whatever you want, go wherever you want, whenever you want — without any major responsibilities tying you down.

It’s almost impossible that you’ll ever again be able to afford to be this carefree.

Student life, I believe, is a long vacation from real life.

Yes, many colleges are stressful and demanding. Indian School of Business certainly is. But even while navigating that stress, if we consciously decide that fun is one of the things we want out of our college experience — it is possible to make space for it.

The issue is, we’ve been conditioned to never treat fun as a valid goal — not like we do with other goals such as learning, networking, or chasing good grades.

Not every lunch has to be a ‘networking lunch’. Have some of them just for yourself and for the people you genuinely enjoy being around.

This is a simple post — a small piece of advice to all current students: give a little more importance to fun. You won’t get this life back.

And as for ex-students like me? We’re a little jealous of you right now.

I took this picture while sitting in the ISB library one day. I rarely went there — I usually studied or worked in my room. Now looking back, I regret not stepping out more often, to enjoy the beautiful infrastructure and meet so many incredible people along the way.

Don’t regret like me later. Make fun a priority while you still can. :)

Pictures of the day! UK PM Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty at the Akshardham Temple

As it rained in Delhi this morning, it was a red umbrella to the Sunaks’ rescue :)

The couple is in New Delhi to attend the G20 summit. They took a break to visit the Hindu temple - Akshardham. They performed Arti at the temple too.

The Indian-origin UK PM Rishi Sunak has spoken about his Hindu roots several times. Ahead of the G20 summit, he called himself a proud Hindu.

Akshata Murty, too, has Indian origins. She is the daughter of billionaire Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and his philanthropist wife, Sudha Murty.

5 bridges have collapsed in Bihar in just the last 9 days. Crores of tax money literally washed away.

Is this how India will become ‘Viksit Bhaarat’?

This bridge was being built at cost of â‚č3 crore. It had been under construction for the last 4 years, since 2021.

Even after 4 years, the Bihar Government’s Rural Works Department couldn’t build a bridge strong enough to survive the river flow.

This 75m long bridge collapsed in the Madhubani district of Bihar after the river’s water level went up.

But this is not the only one.

27 June: Bridge collapsed in Kishanganj district.
23 June: Under-construction bridge collapsed in East Champaran district. Cost - â‚č1.5 crore.
June 22: Bridge collapsed in Siwan.
19 June: a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Araria. Cost - â‚č12 crore.

In March, an under-construction bridge that was being built at a cost of 1,200 crore collapsed in the Supaul district. One worker died and 8 were injured.

Bihar’s CM Nitish Kumar needs to be questioned where taxpayers’ money is being spent. Are construction contracts being given to sub-standard contractors in exchange for bribes? What’s being done to ensure the quality of public infrastructure? Who takes responsibility for this? What would’ve happened if there were people on these bridges when they collapsed?
