A visible skin flare-up showed up right before a meeting.
I had minutes to decide if I would cancel.
Urticaria again, it’s spring.
Stress (corporate) from years ago still shows up like that sometimes.
My first instinct was simple:
skip it, reschedule, wait until I look normal again.
I was about to let something temporary decide how I show up at work.
So, I joined.
No explanation and warning.
And:
No strange looks.
No reactions.
The meeting just moved on like usual.
Afterwards it stayed with me more than the meeting itself.
How often do we do this?
Most people are not studying you.
They’re busy with their own thoughts, their own work, their own day.
And still we:
shrink.
postpone.
hide.
Nobody is really paying that much attention.
But we act like they are.
And sometimes the thing stopping you, isn’t really there.
