π from our largest global R&D center.
We're investing over β¬100 million at the Garching Research Campus, north of Munich, Germany. The new center will focus on Industrial #AI research, specifically on facilitating programming, detecting production breakdowns at an early stage, and enabling natural language communication between humans and machines.
For the opening, we welcomed Bavarian minister-president Dr. Markus SΓΆder, TU Munich President Thomas F. Hofmann, and others from politics, business, and society.
The Siemens Technology Center in Garching spans an impressive 13,000 square meters! It will be the largest of our twelve central #research hubs worldwide. Currently, 450 Siemens employees and 150 TUM scientists work there. The Garching Research Campus, located next to Technical University of Munich, is home to several establishments, including the Max Planck Society and SAP, and employs 28,000 people.
We will bring together all our research activities in Germany at the Siemens Technology Center. Our goal is to complete the second building complex in 2027, which will house over 630 Siemens researchers and IP specialists. This will make it the largest of our twelve central research centers worldwide.
