I vote NO for cover letters. 🗳

Best,
Your Recruiter ❤️

(TBH: when I applied to the jobs in the past, I backed out of the application when they required it.)

What’s your vote?!?
Good culture > Good salary

Every single candidate I’ve talked to have said culture is the single most important aspect they consider before making a decision about joining a company.

Even if a company pays you more, it’s not worth the toxicity if the culture is that bad.

Agree? Please spread the good word.
Dear Candidates,
You’re not wrong when you say entry level roles require 3-5 years of experience. At first, I thought you all were exaggerating… but just today, my very own family member told me that this is the case. They have been applying to jobs the last few months and they are so disappointed to see entry level roles that are trainable and teachable require that much experience.

Let’s stop the chicken and the egg situation with no experience means no job.

I know you want to learn. I know you want to do well. I know you need just a chance.

Spread the word. Get companies thinking.

Rejection hurts you as much as it hurts me.

😭I hate rejecting candidates.
😭I also hate candidates rejecting us.
I haven’t met a single person who is OK with rejection.

People say it’s just business, it’s not personal.

I disagree.

Everything is personal.
We’re in the people business.
It’s hard not to take everything personally.

We’re human.
We have feelings.
We’re emotional.
We care.

Life is so unpredictable and uncontrollable. What I learned is always hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. ❤️

We’re all just trying to do our best.

Share your vulnerabilities. Tell me a time when you were rejected. How did you cope?
Dear Candidates,
I know everyone wants a job making the big bucks. But you need to remember at the end of the day, money isn’t going to fulfill you. It may fill your pockets, but there are other aspects are just as or even more important than money.

Focus on finding a place where…
you’re trusted.
you can take vacation when you want without feeling bad.
you’re supported by your team
you’re appreciated by your manager
you can continue to grow.
you can learn new skills.
you can be yourself.
you belong and feel safe and welcomed.

Believe me… I’ve seen people take a pay cut to get to a good place. Even better if you’re at a place where you can have these things plus $.

Dear Candidates,
Don't get discouraged when you hear your friends are getting jobs from Linkedin connections. I can tell you this... Networking is powerful, but you know what's more powerful... YOU!

Cold applications still work! You have the power to control what role you apply to. No referrals needed. Your efforts matter. Your work matters.

I also know this... networking isn't for everyone. Some people are scared out of their minds to reach out to someone. Although I'm a huge proponent for social media networking and connecting people to jobs, it's not meant for everyone. You can still land a job through an application.

Don't let people discourage you and convince you that there is only one way to get a job. Your experience and potential will get you far. You just need to hit SUBMIT!

I’m so pleased to announce my promotion to Sr. Recruiting Manager @ Divvy | Inc. This is my first time stepping into a leadership position. I’m so stoked and a little nervous.

My Leadership Philosophy:
Being a Transformational & Laissez-faire Leader

✨I want to be a leader who sets goals, finds paths to success, and works collaboratively with a team.
✨ I want to help my team grow and evolve as everyone works together.
✨ I want to be hands-off and leave people to do what they do best.
✨ I want to be a resource for help when my team gets stuck, but not hover or force people to do things my way.
✨ I want to inspire and empower people.

FYI, I’m hiring a Sales Recruiter on my team. <3 Come work with me! Details in the comments below.

Dear Candidates,
Stop being your own worst enemy.
Stop being your own worst critic.
Apply to that job.

Stop telling yourself that you don’t have the experience.
Stop telling yourself that you are not ready.

Job descriptions are meant to be a guiding tool. You don’t need to check 100% of the bullet points.

Actually, if you do meet a 100% of the bullet points, it probably means that you won’t have the ability to grow or challenge yourself because you’re already doing everything listed on there.

So if you come across a role today, apply to that role! Just do it. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Dear Candidates,
Please don't “No-Show“ your interviews. Usually, if you no-show once due to a work emergency or other conflicts, that's OK. I'll advocate for you to be rescheduled. If you “no show“ again, it's 2 strikes and you're out.

Instead, if you can't make it to an interview, let the recruiting coordinator/recruiter know as soon as you can. Don't let them know after the interview has already started. It doesn't look good on you.

As a recruiter, I want you to do well. I want you to get the job. Please show up! TYSM

Best,
Steph, Your Recruiter
I promise. This isn’t me 😂
