I don’t have a college degree from a major college, I’ve never actually been able to hold a real job for any long period of time, I have history in my youth of being a trouble maker, my GPA in high school was 2.0. I also got kicked out or gently booted out of two high schools. I got in way to many fights that I lost count. When I was 16 , I got fired at Six Flags for handing out free prizes in game area and stealing cheeseburgers,I got fired as a bus boy for arguing with the waiters.

I did though wake up at 5 AM as a 10 and 11 year old and knock on doors and shovel driveways for $20 bucks. I also paid my way through basketball camp by working as a line cook in the kitchen and waking up at 5 AM and cooking for all the more well off campers. I started my first online business while in the computer lab serving in-school suspension.

Under the true-rules of meritocracy, I don’t think anybody in the tech world would ever hire me.

I was thinking about it all night, we need to give people chances who don’t fit the traditional fold, if we only do meritocracy when it comes to hiring, we will be losing out on so many awesome incredibly talented people. I’m pushing my team to change and evolve, we’re not perfect but this is important to us an organization. #mutesix #ecommerce #inclusion
