A couple of years ago, as I started putting my finances together - somebody asked me “Hey, if you never had to work for money again, what would you do?“
I casually replied without thinking too much. “I dont know - I think i'd probably make youtube videos? Maybe some stand up? Just make content of any kind I enjoy“
It felt weird to say that. Why would you want to make content once you have that much money? Am I weird?
Cut to a couple of years later. Today I'm watching Garry Tan (Investor, Coinbase) and Justin Kahn (Founder Twitch) running really fun youtube channels. Despite having achieved incredible financial freedom. Apart from these two - I find more and more folks who made wealth and then started creating content.
Why is this so appealing?
For me, personally - making videos is one of a few short feedback loops that I will always crave. Stand up is the shortest feedback loop. Videos are slightly longer. Movies, even longer. Investing and building companies is the longest. And I feel incredibly satisfied having multiple feedback loops of different length at any given time. Maybe no amount of wealth can cure the craving for having these kinds of multiple feedback loops?
Money can come and go. Perhaps true joy will always lie in creation.
