Instead optimise your LinkedIn Profile

Create a list or companies and openings

Find HR's and people in the same role you are looking for

And start reaching them out for referral

Only if it was so easy to get a job by commenting on someone's post.

Indians employment problem would have vanished

Put the efforts, take a smarter approach.

I removed all the educational qualifications from LinkedIn 😑

But added a new one and everybody is losing their minds 🤭

Well, here is the thing.

I truly believe I have learnt the most from Google

And when I say most, I mean almost everything

I cleared most of the exams in engineering not because of classroom lectures

But because I used to binge-watch Lynda or Udemy or YouTube channels to learn the subject.

I learnt Photoshop from Google.

I learnt to make websites from Google.

I learnt digital marketing from Google.

I learnt almost everything that's helping me making money from Google.

So, I choose to put only one tile in my education section.

GOOGLE SEARCH

Now you might ask, would I do the same on my resume?

No, but how I wish. If you know what I mean.

I truly believe in learning. I am not a fan of education, that way it is.

Just my thoughts :)

PS: I don't suggest this for people who are looking for new jobs. The world still believes in certificates and formal education.

I find it super fun when people put Harvard's and Stanford's as educational qualification by doing some online course.

Byju acquires whitehat Jr for 300M USD 🤯

WhiteHat Jr is a edtech startup which teaches kids to code.

Its less than 2 years old 😅

Whitehat Jr was valued at 150M and had raised about 11M before the acquisition happened.

The real USP of whitehat jr is that it assigns one teacher for every student and charges about 10$ per hour

I feel this is one of the biggest reasons for the acquisition.

The quality and the spend capacity of the customers.

Byjus can tap into their high quality audience and start cross selling their programs

Also, they can literally replicate the model for almost all the other subjects

I wont be surprised if Byju would go into a international expansion streak post this.

Byju raised 400M this year and makes a 300M cash deal with White Hat Jr

I am excited to see how ed tech pans out in India

We were seeing some substantial investments, now acquisitions.

I am sure this is just the beginning.

Stop making posts requesting people to hire you.

That's not how hiring works 😖

Here is what you could do instead 👇

Btw this is the exact process i would follow if I was looking for a job :

- Open Google Sheets

- Make a list of openings that you see as a broad fit

- Rate them out of 10 based on your expertise and JD match

- Find 5 people who could possibly refer you ( leverage LinkedIn ) and get yourself referred

- Couldn’t get anyone to refer you?

- Go to Hunter .io, find the email of someone senior to that role but it same field/ HR

- Write a cold email with a nice cover explaining why you are fit ( be precise and short - dont be needy )

- Repeat the same for 5-10 roles per day.

That's it!

This is exactly what I would do.

Apply for 1000’s of the job isn’t going to help. There are 1000’s of people doing exactly what you are doing.

You need to standout think different.

Btw, you will get a job, if not immediately. Definitely!

Amazon to acquire Hollywood studio MGM for over 8 Billion dollars 🥺

Yes, the same one with roaring lion?

But why and how would Amazon do this?

The answer is simple, Amazon prime.

With this acquisition, Amazon gets access to over 17000 shows and 4000 movies 😅

and these are some iconic movies like James bond, tomb raider, and some all time big shows like Tom and Jerry?

The acquisition doesn't only give access to the content but also the IP

Imagine a new updated Tom and Jerry, or James bond movie which is prime exclusive 🤯

The streaming wars is getting exciting everyday,

and for Amazon it's beyond just winning the streaming game.

Prime is their paid subscription for ecommerce which leads to higher order rate and retention of users,

It's basically a double win for Amazon

I call this a stroke of genius, provided they are able to leverage the IP of MGM properly.

This is the email that Elon Musk has sent to all the employees of Twitter.

It says you will know if you are layed off or not 12 hours later 😣

Twitter management asked it's employees to not to come to office,

Blocked everybody's key cards,

And said at 9am PST they will get an email which will tell them if they still have the job at Twiter,

Or if they are fired 🤯

All this in just a week of Elon taking over Twitter

I got to say this is the worst way to handle the situation,

I would be absolutely trimatised and lose my shit if was a Twitter employee.

Lost a lot of respect for Elon after looking at how he is handling this.

People have been freaking out about the COVID-19 / Corona virus, I have heard conversations as crazy as this leading to doomsday.

Trust me, I was freaking out till I ran some numbers.

FYI: The intention of this post is not to say that you should not be worried and stay carefree. It's already a pandemic but this is just to give you the reality check and keep you informed.

Total cases of Corona globally: 93186 where China, South Korea, Italy and Iran contribute to 97.81% and India right now only has 22 cases~0.02%

Total reported deaths have been 3203, 3.44% of total cases and 54% have recovered.

Also, the chances of dying if you are under 50 are under 0.25% even if you are infected and with no pre-existing conditions, the chance is less than 0.23% ( Take extra care of your old folks )

So the chances of you dying of Corona is less than you dying of being hit by a thunderstorm ( For now )

So please stop freaking out but please make sure :

- Wash hands regularly, especially before touching eyes, nose or mouth.
- Avoid public places and travel
- If you have fever, cough etc, get checked

But why are brands with such heavy marketing pockets dropping?

This is to push FB to improve their efforts against hate speech and disinformation

Remember Cambridge analytica fiasco?

Zuck has responded to this fast and now FB will start labelling posts

And if there is some content which might lead to violence or anything of that sorts,

The post would be taken down, irrespective of who posted

When you think of on the line of Fb, it's super hard to moderate millions of content pieces that go out.

Especially during an ongoing pandemic with reduced staff

But post the George Floyd incident, people are more sensitive than ever ( they should be too )

While big brands can do this, can small business handle the pressure of getting off FB which could be their major source of leads/ revenue?

On the other side, the ad price would go down due to more inventory being available

But I see a definite snowball effect and more major brands joining this.

One of the biggest selling point of a college is networking

With COVID, thats almost not a possibility.

Colleges dont know how to teach online

This calls for the rise of affordable quality education by teachers who have lived the practical life.

The growth of independent strong subject matter experts will go up and real live mentors would become teachers.

Make sure you take the right call.

Its been 6 months since I have left my building.

Now that I have jumped on the boat of entrepreneurship,

I am almost working 7 days a week and I am not even aware its a weekday or weekend.

With that being said,

Sometimes I wish it didn't exist.

Life would have been so much more real.

it's the 14th largest cryptocurrency in the world.

Yesterday, Matic crossed a market cap of 16B USD

It is based on ETH,

More than 400 applications have been built using the power of Matic ( Yes it's not a useless coin like doge )

The value of the coin rose from some Rs 130 bucks yesterday to Rs 260 as I write this post.

India can definitely lead the way of blockchain, it definitely has the potential

While most of us think crypto is all about Bitcoin and Etherium,

There is so much more

And the more time I spend learning about it, the more convinced I get, that blockchain is the future!

MailChimp gets acquired for $12B by Intuit 🤯

While there are 1000's of tools which can send emails,

what's so special about MC? 👇

MailChimp is a completely bootstrapped business,

It was founded in 2001,

and it is so well known that it has almost become a synonym to email marketing.

It's the first email marketing tool, I ever used.

But here is where the magic is,

last year, MailChimp did a revenue of $750M,

and made a profit of $250M

It has 140M customers, yes million 😅

2.4M of them are monthly active customers,

and has over 800K paid customers.

All this took them almost 20+ years to get to.

Now the acquisition number doesn't seem big enough right?

With this acquisition, Intuit will be able to expand their offerings for small and medium sized businesses.

Is MailChimp the best marketing automation tool out there?

I don't think so,

I personally don't use MailChimp anymore,

but I recommend it to every one who getting started,

reason?

It's super simple to use and a great free plan making it perfect for small busineses.

And I think they deserve the value they got.

Yes! I stopped running ads for 2 weeks, but registrations didn’t stop coming.
