About 1.5 months ago I got prescribed anti-depressants to deal with chronic anxiety.
It was the first time I had finally reached out for help. With a 15 day course, I had to make a choice. To either be hooked on them for years to come or quit midway and deal with the consequences. So I quit.
Unable to sleep, with anxiety rising: my body took a hit. It took me about a week to recover from the side effects.
For a dude who hits the gym 6 days a week, I had completely stopped going for a month. Finally, chalte hain.
Pitch dark, 9pm. I was cycling my way to the gym which is a mere 600m from my place, I was excited.
Abruptly, the front wheel got stuck in a pothole and I flew out of my cycle's seat. The wheel got unstuck and the cycle came flying at me, hitting my head. Lag gayi yaar. I got up.
Chalte hai gym, kharoch aayi hogi max-to-max. But the sweat dripping from forehead looked red. I had successfully busted my head.
I rushed home, announced my fuck-up and got taken to the hospital.
They operated on my head for about an hour, giving me time to contemplate life in the meanwhile:
- βIt would have been so unsexy if I had passed away in cycle accident.β
- βI want to go to the gym.β
- βBro Get CHAD kab launch karna hai?β
- βWear a helmet next time.β
So I did exactly that:
- Doctor strongly asked me to avoid gym or risk wearing a belt for life. So avoided gym (not for long).
- Launched Get CHAD
- Closed our first batch of clients.
- 6-figure MRR while my head was still bandaged.
- Started cycling with a helmet.
It was probably the worst time for my body. First the pills, then the accident. Did it teach me anything?
Haan. Avoid pills and wear a helmet.
Also maybe, accept that you can't control everything in life. Also that you don't need an accident to remind you to be grateful about the good things.
