We deserve to love our careers. Let’s prioritize work-life balance & peace of mind. Agree?

We tend to value “hustle culture.” But 24/7 hustle leads to burnout quickly.

When we’re searching for our next job, we should clarify our values.

Money is important. However, there are other benefits just as valuable.

Benefits just as important as money:

✅ Remote or hybrid work option
✅ Enough sick and vacation days
✅ Professional development budget
✅ Opportunities for upward growth
✅ Leaders who appreciate our work

working everyday in a positive environment is priceless.

Clarifying our values and what’s most important to us is key.

We can walk into an interview knowing exactly what we’re looking for.

Remember: We’re interviewing a company just as much as they interview us.

Question - What’s your most important career value? Is it money or something else?

Is remote work or hybrid option a priority?

Sometimes we have to step back and look at our lives from a 10,000 ft. view to see how everything fits together.

“We live life looking forward, but we understand it looking backwards.”

This is a quote I’ve always remembered. Things don’t always quite make sense until we go through them and look back.

The key to a successful life is to appreciate all of its parts - the good, the bad, and the mundane.
Life moves fast! When we’re busy, it feels like we’re sprinting to get everything done.

Multi-tasking is a skill many of us have developed.

We’re busy people with busy lives, and we’ve gotten great at getting ALL the things done.

That’s why busy people searching for their dream job join our Remote Roundup weekly newsletter.

It’s a free weekly email with hand-picked 100% remote jobs and career advice delivered right to your inbox.

Developing skills takes time. When we communicate our skills effectively, it makes our job search 10X easier.

“Your skills aren't the problem. How you're communicating them is.“

Last month, I was working with Ryan who was getting zero responses. After restructuring how he communicated his skills, he landed 6 interviews in 30 days.

The old approach (that wasn't working):
❌ Generic skill lists
❌ Technical jargon overload
❌ No context for achievements
❌ Missing quantifiable results
❌ Standard bullet points

Here's the exact framework he used:

✅ 1 // Created his “Skills Story Matrix“: Mapped each skill to specific results and added revenue impact numbers.

✅ 2 // Built “Proof Portfolios“ for each skill: Screenshotted documentation and put together project before/afters.

✅ 3 // Developed his “Remote Skill Showcase“: Created virtual collaboration examples and remote team leadership stories.

✅ 4 // Implemented the “Value Bridge“ method: Connected skills to company needs and showed scalability of experience.

✅ 5 // Created “Skill Validation Content“: Created LinkedIn posts sharing expertise and mini case studies.

Results? 6 new interview requests, 3 final offers, 20% increase, and full remote flexibility.

The game-changer? Speaking the language of results, not just responsibilities.

Question - How would you rank your current job search & resume from 1 to 5?

Question 2 - How else can you better communicate and display your skills?

We should value our mental health above everything. Finding a career we love is step number one.

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Day where we bring awareness and attention to the issue.

Statistics show that 60% of people say their work environment and career affects their mental health over everything else.

When we work in a career and environment we love, we’re able to truly grow and thrive.

Here’s are 5 steps to pivot into a career we love:

✅ 1 // Clarify our values. We first need to decide what’s most important in our career, whether it’s money, remote environment, or overall fulfillment.

✅ 2 // Take inventory of our skills. Next, we can make a list of our best skills. Write this list and mark them in importance from 1 to 10, with 10 being most valuable skill.

✅ 3 // Use ChatGPT. Then, head to AI and give it a list of your top skills. Ask it to give you ideas of what would be the best careers that would utilize those skills.

✅ 4// Leverage LinkedIn. Once we’ve discovered our dream careers, start researching on LinkedIn to find companies that match these job titles.

✅ 5 // Network. Spend the next 3 to 6 months networking with people at those companies and in our dream field or work environment.

It’s true that networking is the best way to transition into a new career.

Remember, you’re looking for a work environment where you can thrive. Let’s invest the time necessary to grow our career in the right direction.

Question - What’s the best advice you can give someone who is looking for their dream career?

Question 2 - What do you think about this 5-step process? What else would you add?

Every career has its seasons. Whichever season we’re in, we can be confident we’re right where we should be.

Most careers are rarely a straight line.

In fact, they look more like a zig zag, and that’s perfectly ok.

There was a recent Harris Interactive surgery that polled 45% of Americans are satisfied with their careers.

33% believe they’ve reached a “dead end” in their career and 21% are eager for a career change.

Older workers were the most satisfied and tougher workers were most distressed.

Sometimes it feels like everything is blooming, fresh, and new.

Other times, it feels like our career is a bit dead and needs some life put back into it.

Here are 4 questions to determine which season of our career we’re in:

✅ Do we feel energized or burnt out? When we feel stuck or bored in our career, burn out is inevitable.

✅ Do we have growth opportunities? We should always been looking toward the next challenge or promotion.

✅ Are we setting new goals? When we’re excited about our career, we naturally set goals to push for.

✅ Do we have community? Connecting with others in our career is a natural way to build relationships.

Whichever season we’re in, we can know that the next one will be coming soon.

We should always be prepared for whatever changes are around the corner.

Question - Which season of your career are you in? Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter?

Question 2 - Did the answer to any of these questions surprise you?

It doesn’t matter how big, old, or smart we are, success is all about effort. đŸ™ŒđŸŒ Do we agree?
Money is great, but we also need fulfillment, purpose, and peace of mind in our careers. Agree? 🙏

Most of us are money motivated. I get it; we got bills to pay.

However, a recent PwC study showed that 83% of workers said “finding meaning in day-to-day work” was their top priority.

We’re motivated by money, but we’re also motivated by work that fulfills our purpose.

We want to feel valued in our work and like we’re making an impact.

Here are 3 questions to find more fulfillment in our work:

✅ Do I look forward to Mondays? We should feel energized by our work and look forward to starting a new week.

✅ Do I feel stressed at work? Our workplace should feel inspiring and engaging, not overly stressful.

✅ Do I have growth opportunities? Our work should have a clear path forward into promotion or greater responsibility.

These types of questions can often be revealing.

If we’re not happy with some of the answers, it might be time for a change.

Question - Do we think money or fulfillment is more important in a career?

Question 2 - Do we think most companies focus on creating a culture for growth?

How to find a remote dream job that aligns with your values & vision đŸ‘‡đŸŒ

Everyone’s talking about culture:
// positive culture
// negative culture
// “quit quitting” culture

Culture matters. Some work environments get it and some don’t.

If you’ve ever worked in a toxic work environment, you know how draining it can be.

You deserve better.

Here’s 4 steps to move toward your dream remote job this year:

✅ 1 // Build your network. Most jobs in the “hidden job market” are filled through networking and referrals.

✅ 2 // Optimize your resume now. Never wait until you’re ready to job search to update your resume. Keep it updated.

✅ 3 // Leverage LinkedIn like your career depends on it. Because it does. Start building new connections everyday.

✅ 4 // Step outside your comfort zone. You might not want to hear it, but your dream job is likely somewhere outside your comfort zone.

Life’s too short to not love the work you do.

If you’ve found yourself in a work environment that no longer serves your purpose, it’s time to make a change.

Question - Which is more important: a job’s salary or the work environment? Wes

When we recognize others’ achievements and value, we’re creating a positive and thriving culture.

“Be an encourager; the world has enough critics already.” (Unknown)

Encouraging others is one of the best ways to create a positive culture in our work.

When we feel like our work is valued, it motivates us to continue performing at our best.

Recognizing others:

-Motivates success
-Drives more excellence
-Supports peak performance
-Encourages accomplishments
-Builds a safe environment to share

Supporting people, rather than dragging them down, is a sign of true leadership.

We can support people in their work, in their business, or in their creative pursuits.

One of the most selfless things we can do is lift someone else up above our own interests.

What do we think? Agree? đŸ€”
