My grandmother left me a voice note today to congratulate me. As I left her a voice note in return, I was reminded that my grandmother is illiterate.
Nevertheless here she and I were, celebrating her granddaughter who has graduated from the #1 ranked undergraduate program, Princeton University and #1 ranked MBA program, The Wharton School . As I reflect on the lived experiences of my grandmother who had to drop out of school as a child, the sacrifices of my late mother who despite battling cancer ensured I had access to the best education, the 48hr trips I took to West Africa to oversee production and make it back in time for class on Mondays, or how I strategically grew Anima Iris to multiple retail stores, nearly 100K followers and over $1M in revenue….these last 2 years still feel impossible.And yet here I am— a graduate once again. Wilglory Tanjong, MBA 🎓👜
