In my previous role as Head of Digital channels for a large bank I hired Anil ( name changed) who had no digital experience for a digital acquisition role.
The role was to manage the digital lead acquisition program for a financial product that had high annual digital spends.
Anil was keen to join the team but had no digital acquisition experience, his experience was in #product management and #sales but he was sharp , his analytical skill were strong and logical reasoning very sound.
During the interview I could sense his hunger to be a part of the digital team and take on the new role.
I hired Anil as a digital acquisition manager, he managed the portfolio that had one of the highest annual digital spends at the bank.
I moved to a new role, meanwhile Anil learnt the nuts and bolts of running an acquisition program at the bank.
He called me this morning and told me,
“I got a #Job at Google“ ,
he thanked me for #hiring him for the digital acquisition role even though he had no digital experience.
At #Google he is now the industry #campaign lead.
Hire people who are coachable , hungry to learn new skills and are willing go the extra mile.
