If it wasn’t for the vast amount of misinformation on the internet, I wouldn’t have to write this. For the record, Imane Khelif is not transgender - you cannot transition in Algeria. She was born a woman and remains a woman.

Why are people calling her a transman?

Because of their lack of understanding and the sheer propoganda and homophobia online. Her issue is similar to Caster Semenya's, which is naturally occurring testosterone in excess of the range deemed acceptable.

As Sarayu Pani put it, it’s a complicated issue in women's sport (the rules have gone back and forth) and there are no easy or universal answers but using it to peg your anti trans views on is just laughable bigotry.

To add a few more facts before the internet goes off on this post,

1. The Algerian understanding is that Imane has is hyperandrogenism, what causes heightened testosterone levels. Imane is not gay, nor trans, but born as a woman with high testosterone and her current appearance.

2. Imane lost 9 fights and had 4 draws out of 50 during years, so there are women who can win against Imane.

Michael Phelps had wild arms that gave him an advantage. He's considered the greatest of all time. Men are allowed to be biologically gifted, and women are, in turn, called men.

So before you go on showcasing your version of “feminism” and “gender equality”, do a simple fact check. You’ll be surprised to find out how the media can tarnish information.

I just lived MY dream😭

I never thought that the first time I’ll visit Times Square will also be the same time I’ll get featured there!

A few years ago I couldn’t have even dreamt of this. But here I am. Standing infront of the screen with my face on it.

And a big part of the credit goes to my mentors. All the women who have been there for me not just in my highs but my lowest lows.

I want to make sure that I continue this with my mentees. I try to be available as much as I can and if there are times when I cant help them, I connect them to those who can.

So if you’re someone who is struggling, reach out and ask for help.

If you’re thriving, make sure you are able to support others to do the same!

PS: Thank you topmate.io for making this happen!❤️

Dear Soon to be Graduates,

While some people have admission letters and pre-placement offers, others have no clue what to do next. I was where you are two years ago.

No idea what I wanted to do, no Ivy leagues in my pocket and no big packages. I didn’t even have an internship.

After two years in the pandemic and running Covid Fighters India, I was burnt out. I was so busy trying to keep up with the pandemic that I lost out on figuring what I should be doing after I graduate.

And mind you, I was (what I would like to consider) a great student in college. Was part of multiple societies, led some of them, interned at different places and got slightly above average grades. I went to Lady Shri Ram College For Women and everyone around me thought I will have BIG plans.

The reality was I was lost, confused, demotivated and honestly lonely. It took me several months and multiple conversations with people to figure out next steps.

The reason why i say next steps and not career plan is because I didnt have one. I enrolled into a degree that I found interesting, mass applied to UN internships and that was that.

Three months later, I was interning at UNESCO New Delhi, studying International Humanitarian Law and had a job offer in hand.

What I’m trying to say is that you DONT have to have it figured out before graduating, heck you dont need to have it figured even while you’re in your first job.

Don’t let others acceptance letters and job offers demotivate you.

You have your own journey of discovering your real passion and I have faith in all of you.

So, if you’re lost, lonely, burnt out and confused like I was? Embrace it and be patient.

Something much bigger is in the works.

Warm regards,
A 2021 Graduate
