Solved a DS/Algo question & forget it after a week?
Don't worry I have a SECRET tip for you,
It's called the `AFL Technique` ✅
let's explore it . . .

Definition:
“AFL technique updates the `mind cache` with Fibonacci Sequence Interval, starting from index=2“

Explanation:
0. Suppose you solved a problem on Day 0,

1. Solve the same question after a gap as per Fibonacci Sequence starting 1, 2, 3, 5 . . .
That means, after Day 0, solve the same question on Day 2, then on Day 5, then on Day 9 and so on . . .

2. Only STOP when you are able to solve the problem for Three Consecutive Solving Days and the Third day should be a Cakewalk. 😋

EDIT - This post DOES NOT encourage anyone to LEARN the solutions of DS/Algo problems, but think and actually SOLVE them each time from scratch.
Keep coding! ✌🏽

See,
“In DS & Algo,
It's not about how many problems you've solved.
But it's about how well you've understood the ones you already know.“ 😇

Hit that Like Button, if you Agree. 👍🏾

For College Students:
..
When I was in college,
there was a point when I felt completely Lost,
I was clueless about what to do next,
I was not sure about how to go ahead in my career.

I had Big dreams, sky-high goals, wanted to be the best,
but all I could see around me was just DARKNESS. 🥺

I discussed my goals with friends, they laughed.
I went to my seniors, they gave random advice.
I felt more sad, I felt more lost,
Finally what helped me in the end, was only my Inner Strength.

I used to watch a lot of motivational videos,
I used to read a lot of motivational quotes,
And somehow with all my inner strength,
I trained my mind to be Optimistic, put in the best efforts, & just keep moving ahead.

..
If you're someone going through a similar situation,
just listen my friend,

`There might be all darkness around you right now,
but there will definitely be Light at the end of the tunnel.`

Gather all your courage,
gather all your strength, & just keep moving.

Take baby steps, go a little slow,
you might feel Low, but keep moving!

Don't give up, don't ever stop,
BELIEVE in YOURSELF, & keep moving!

My friend, just keep moving ahead!

Yesterday I got 47 messages on LinkedIn,
Out of which 35 were almost similar.
This happens every year in the month of June. 🤷🏽‍♂️
Why?
June is the month when all the final year students are in panic mode.

“Placement Season is about to begin“

All students have an unexplainable eerie feeling and all they want is mentorship/guidance from someone.

This post is for all who feel:
0. I'm not prepared
1. I've never done Competitive Programming
2. I've not done any good projects
3. I don't even know how an interview looks like

Let me tell you the truth,

These problems are nothing,
there will be even bigger problems in your life in the future. All you need right now is to get out of your COMFORT ZONE.

Whatever happened, happened. It's not in your control now. But what's in your control now is, how you will spend your coming 51 days. ✅

Even if you know nothing, absolutely nothing. You just need 51 days. 💁🏽‍♂️

21 days to make a great routine and get yourself to your Peak Potential 🔥
And the rest 30 days to perform at your Peak Potential. 💪🏽

Trust me,
If you completely devote yourself for these 51 days, I bet you'll become a different human being 😇

Realization is important

And remember,
You can achieve anything in life, all you need is that `Burning Desire` 🔥

The biggest mistake of my college life was not taking care of my health.
After a while, money will no longer be the motivation.

But initially, hustle to reach that `while`! 🚀
Simran: “I know HTML. I know CSS. I know JS.
But I can't write code. 😞
I don't know where to start. 😩 “

Me: Every new web developer goes through this phase Simran.

Simran: What's the solution?
Me: `Apply theory to practice` ✅

S: How to practice?
M: Make projects 🕺🏻

S: What projects?
M: As a beginner take baby steps, start slow with a basic project. 😇

S: What basic project?
M: Why not build your own portfolio website. 😌

S: How to build a portfolio website?
Me: Here you go 👇
0. Start from scratch, build a static site
1. Write HTML & CSS to make it beautiful
2. Use JS + creativity and play with code
3. & don't just leave it to localhost:5500
4. Host it at `www.SimranIsAwesome .com` 😉

This will help you apply the basics of HTML, CSS, JS.

As you make more projects,
keep adding them to your portfolio here. 😇

After you finish it,
make a more advanced project that involves talking to APIs and a little more cool stuff.

So what are you waiting for Simran?
Hurry up, get started! 🔥

S: Yayayayay, I've bought the domain name 🤩 💃
Me: Wow, you're fast. 🚀

Me: But I see `SimranIsAwesome .com` still available for purchase, that's weird! 🤯

S: Yeah, because I've got `SimranIsBeyondAwesome .com` 😎
This might sound rude, but students today are just so much distracted and confused.
They are worrying so much about the future, and just wasting the present. 🤷‍♂️

Let me tell you the truth,
No one knows what will happen in future.

But it’s certain that, if you work hard today, definitely you’ll be at a good place soon.

Predicting future and choosing your career is a risky bet.

Work Hard and do what’s working for today. Don’t live a life full of confusion and FOMO.

Wish you a great career ahead!

Cheers,
Akshay Saini

Vegetable sellers have a habit of shouting,
“Aaaaalooooo lelo!!“ at the top of their voices
These days they pull their cart and even come inside the lanes to sell vegetable door to door
I was having a meeting yesterday,

& got stuck in an awkward situation

~ 11 AM:

Me: “So this is how the design will look like . . .“

Suddenly,
“Aaaaaaaaaloooo Lelo“
<2 seconds of complete silence>

I was speechless & it was so awkward! 😰>

But then suddenly,
don't know what hit my mind,
Me: “Subha se na ek Aaloo bika hai, na bika hai aadha kanda“

Me: “Haha. So while he is doing his job, I'll do mine. Moving onto the design section. So this is how the design will look like . .“

Luckily, I kind of handled the situation and finished my presentation even with that awkward background music 😅

But later I realized,
“An awkward situation can be handled by humor“ 😅

Also got an idea of developing a small PWA to solve this.
Before entering the lane,
the seller can send a push notification to everyone's phone 😎
It won't take more than an hour to develop that,
but will that help?
any thoughts?

How to become a good React dev starting from scratch?
🤝 Let me tell you 2 approaches as a teacher.
I feel the Second approach is BETTER than First.

=== First Approach ===
0. Learn how web works
1. Learn about browsers and tools inside it
2. Learn HTML, CSS to create static website
3. Learn JavaScript Basics to Advanced
4. Learn basic DSA using JS, handling complex objects and arrays
5. Learn building applications using HTML, CSS, vanilla JS
6. Learn about bundlers, most popular JS libraries and packages
7. Learn React
and then you'll also have to learn about Routing, State Management, Unit Testing, Styling and much more to be able to build large scale frontend ready React applications.

This is the best way BUT,
If today a student asks me,
I suggest them to learn differently.

=== Second Approach ===
0. Learn basics of HTML, CSS, JS
1. Be able to work with Objects & Arrays functions map, filter, reduce & some promises (basically just watch `Namaste JavaScript series` on YouTube)
2. Start Learning React and build something along side
3. Fail and keep learning
4. As you come across a new keyword, concept or you get stuck, just read about it and keep learning alongside.
5. Develop complex features in your app, like Pagination, Multi-Language support, Optimising your app, Complex workflows and keep figuring out how to build all of that.
6. Later as you go ahead, keep diving deep into JavaScript, How web works, How browser works and other tools.

✅ Follow this approach, if you're starting today!

Why I suggest this?
As a teacher I have observed that my students today
- Don't have patience.
- Want quick results
- They give up easily
- They want to be interview ready soon
- Less attention span

The first approach is BEST, but the process takes a lot of time.
It takes Patience, dedication & perseverance.
It's not that easy for students today with less attention span.

So follow second approach:
- you will keep seeing results while building
- you'll fail a lot, but you'll get quick answers on easy google search
- you'll be less bored
- You'll get a lot of hands on practice from starting

Frontend as a skill has become very vast and diverse in last decade.
Everything moves fast and you cannot learn everything.

As a teacher I would suggest second approach if you're starting today! 🤷‍♂️

Do let me know what do you think about it in comments!!

Most companies spend so much on hunting talent, but almost nothing on building a great interview experience.

#interview #hiring #softwareengineer
Is learning React waste when Next.js is getting popular?
No.
Let me tell you why,

🚀 Next.js might have stolen the spotlight, but the REAL game-changer is still React! 😮🔥

Many applications and websites are built solely with React (and will continue to), without the need for Next.js.

Additionally, Next.js itself is built using React, so understanding React concepts will greatly assist you in working with Next.js effectively.

Furthermore, learning React provides a foundation for understanding other React-based frameworks and libraries.

Next.js is just one example, and there are other popular frameworks like Gatsby, Remix, and more, each with its own unique features and use cases.

By mastering React, you'll have a solid basis for exploring and working with these tools. 🚀

So saying `learning React is a waste when Next.js is here`
is just like saying, “learning JavaScript is waste when we have TypeScript“ 😅

Moreover, if you want to fall in love with the beauty of React.
and you want to know how React works behind the scenes,

Checkout, “Namaste React Web Series“ - https://lnkd.in/d9ckj8nQ

Many developers think code reviews are about:
→ Finding as many mistakes as possible
→ Criticizing someone else’s approach
→ Arguing over tabs vs. spaces

But great code reviews are about:
→ Ensuring the code is clear, maintainable, and efficient
→ Sharing knowledge and learning from each other
→ Helping teammates grow without judgment
→ Strengthening the codebase and the team

Good code reviews build better software—and better developers. ✌️
