Leaving a toxic ⚠ workplace to prioritize your mental health shows you are brave, self-aware, and incredibly smart.

Trust your decision, and don’t ❌ become a statistic:

1 in 5 workers are in a toxic work culture and report harm to their mental health. (APA 2023)

If you haven’t quit yet, here are 5 easy steps to remove yourself from a toxic workplace:

1. Recognize the Signs

Consistent negative interactions, lack of support, and feeling undervalued or stressed.

2. Document Everything

Keep a record of incidents, communications, and behaviors that contribute to the toxic atmosphere. This can be helpful if you need to file a complaint.

3. Seek Support

Reach out to trusted colleagues, friends, family, or a mentor to discuss your situation. You can consult with HR or a professional for guidance.

4. Plan Your Exit

The best time to find a new job is when you have one. Reach out to recruiters and update your resume.

5. End on Good Terms

Regardless of how frustrated you are, once you find a new job, quit with dignity. Provide notice, complete any outstanding work, and leave with a good reputation.

Remember, prioritizing your mental health over a job is extremely hard, but it will bring you a happier and more successful future.

I used to put other people first, at the cost of my physical and mental health. 😫 I thought this was the only way to fully show up for people in my life, but I was wrong. ❌

There was a much better approach to being more present and reliable for others, while maintaining my personal well-being. 🧐

I started prioritizing my physical and mental health, so I could show up and be the greatest version of myself! 📈💪🏻😊

When you take care of your health, you become the best:

✅ Parent 👦👧
✅ Professional 💼
✅ Boss 👩🏽‍💼👨‍💼
✅ Entrepreneur 📊
✅ Partner 💍
✅ Friend 🤝
✅ Caregiver ❤️

Focusing on your health is the most important step in order to maximize your ability to help others. 🤝

In addition, you become a positive role model for everyone around you.

Try making these a non-negotiable:

☑️ Sleep 7+ hours 😴
☑️ Eat three healthy meals a day, with your smallest meal being dinner 🍲
☑️ Exercise 🏃 20-30 minutes a day
☑️ Practice 10 min of meditation 🧘‍♀️ daily
☑️ Have a therapist or coach you meet with once a week.

🌟 It is never too late! You can start showing up for yourself today.

🤔 What is one thing you did or can do today to improve your physical and/or mental health?

We are in this together! 👥 👊

Purpose offers intrinsic motivation, which can fuel your motivation for the rest of your life.

In contrast, fame and money offer extrinsic motivation. They are external motivators that, once achieved, will have diminishing motivation.

Chronic work boredom can increase your risk for depression, anxiety, insomnia, and addiction.

So, what do you do? 🤷‍♂️

Discover your purpose and connect it to your work!

Purpose is what makes life exciting and gets you out of bed in the morning. It can guide major decisions, influence behavior, shape goals, and offer a sense of direction.

Purpose can make work meaningful and satisfying.

To find your purpose, look at the intersections between what you care about, what you enjoy, your strengths, and what the world 🌎 needs.

Sometimes you can connect your purpose to your current job and other times you might have to explore new opportunities.

Remember that life can 💯% get better!
You are in the driver’s seat!

How do you turn a decade of being unemployed, battling depression, and being on disability into success?

First, you don’t give up, no matter how great the struggle.

Second, you focus on the positives. Understand what you have learned from your challenges and the others around you. Life is full of lessons.

Third, you find your MTP, Massive Transformative #Purpose. One that is beyond yourself, aimed towards helping others, and motivates you to get out of bed every day, regardless of how you feel.

What is your purpose?

We all have strengths and weaknesses. It’s easier and faster to grow your #strengths then improve your #weaknesses.

My companies consist of team members whose strengths are my weaknesses. This allows each of us to focus on what we are good at.

Not only does this allow work to be more enjoyable, but it optimizes #success.

“I have the ability to change my mental health.“ Author: You 💪💯

After overcoming crippling depression I battled with for 8 years, the biggest lesson I learned was that I always had the ability to improve my situation.

For years I thought I needed to find a cure or silver bullet to get better ❤️‍🩹. But I was wrong.

I started to get better once I realized I could take small steps 👣 every day to feel and function a little better. Eventually, these small steps turned into exponential growth 📈.

Now I am off disability, independent, debt free, and running a few different businesses.

You are in the driver's seat 💺.
Where do you want to go? 🚀🌍

YOU MATTER!

I once thought I didn’t matter.

I was told by doctors to stop fighting, accept my situation, and move on.

I refused to listen 🦻 and stayed true to myself.

I eventually overcame the challenges of major depression, being on disability, having no money 💰, and not having family support.

I became a successful coach, entrepreneur, athlete, and investor.

More importantly, I have helped many overcome their adversities along my journey.

What I learned….

Everyone of us matters.

We are all special, unique, and outliers.

No one has the right to declare our future.

Each of us has the ability to inspire and help others.

“You Matter!”

Write ✍️ it, remember it, say it.

Death by Pretzel. This is how I explain depression.

Many years ago, when I was battling Major Depression, I found myself sitting on a couch watching the movie “Pitch Black” with Vin Diesel. As I watched the movie, I was eating pretzel sticks.

During the movie there was a scene when Vin Diesel battles an inmate and ends up killing him with a tea cup.

After that scene, I paused, and pondered how I could end my life with a single pretzel stick.

Now, unless I was deathly allergic to this food, which I was not, this was a completely illogical thought. I would even consider it ridiculous.

My brain 🧠 was so broken that it was looking for anything to end my suffering.

I share this story because it highlights how depression doesn’t always make sense. Logic becomes twisted. The brain attacks itself.

This is one of the many irrational thoughts I had about ending my life during my 8 years battling with debilitating depression.

I do want to highlight that, with a lot of hard work, I managed to get out of the darkness and now I am a successful entrepreneur, business coach, investor, and athlete.

Sometimes people are depressed because of a situation and sometimes the brain, an essential vital organ, is not functioning correctly.

Depression is a spectrum. If you know someone suffering, try to open your mind.

Don’t make assumptions and it’s OK if you don’t understand. To this day, I still don’t understand everything I went through.

Simply be present, listen👂, show your support, and offer help.

Please share this story to educate others on depression.

Instead of investing your money, time, and social capital in Meta, what was known as Facebook, invest in yourself.

#SocialMedia can be a time suck! You can lose priceless opportunities, reduce your productivity, and deteriorate your mental health.

When you invest in yourself you intellectually grow, can exponentially increase your income, and secure your #happiness.

Your best #investment will always be yourself. Once you are fully invested, then you can diversify.

1 in 5 suicides are linked to unemployment.

Several large companies are laying off up to 20% of their employees due to fears of a recession in 2023.

What these companies are neglecting is the negative impact this will have on the workforce’s #MentalHealth.

The simple fear of a #layoff can instill anxiety in most employees.

While the ones who are let go experience shame, failure, and depression.

If companies like Amazon, Gemini, Microsoft, Salesforce and IBM are making radical layoffs, they should offer mental health resources to their employees through and months after the process.

Do you believe these companies need to take #responsibility and action to reduce the emotional recoil from a mass layoff?

Dear LinkedIn Community,

I first shared my story of overcoming 8 years of Major Depression and #unemployment on LinkedIn, not knowing what to expect.

To my surprise, you celebrated my openness and transparency. I have received messages from people all over the world 🌎 expressing their appreciation towards my efforts to improve #mentalhealth.

To this day, the abundance of positivity has greatly outweighed the few critics.

You have given me a tremendous amount of motivation, energy, and support in my personal life and for my mission to end the stigma around mental health.

I want to take this moment and thank all of YOU for your thoughtful and inspirational comments.

I would never have gotten this far if it wasn’t for this #community.

I am looking forward to what the future holds, especially knowing that we are in this together!

An easy way to improve a company’s performance is by reducing the number of meetings per day and cutting meeting times in half.

When you limit the number of meetings in a day, an employee will have more time to focus on key 🔑 projects.

When you reduce meeting times in half, people adapt and use the time more efficiently (Parkinson’s Law).

Plus, everyone is just a little happier!

What do you think? 💭

I used to work 7 days a week, but quickly learned I was missing out on enjoying life. Eventually I got burnt out.

Now every weekend my phone is on Do Not Disturb and one day a week I turn off all electronics.
