One page resume trend😲....

Up until today, I have reviewed 2,500 resumes.

The struggle is real because I’m also a full time engineer but helping people getting a job give a me another level of satisfaction😁.

That’s how I managed to help 86 fresh grads secure job during pandemic.

I know that the ratio is a bit off because that’s the only people that get back to me and update their job statusšŸ˜…. I’m very sure the number should be way beyond that.

So, back to the topic, should you do a one page resume?

My answer is no, unless if you’re a celebrity, influencer or former CEO of big company, it just doesn’t work.

Most of the companies nowadays use ATS or Applicant Tracking System to filter out the candidates. In order to get through the system, we need WORDS.

One page resume will not have enough words for an Executive level candidate to be selected.

Maybe some of us are well-known, high achievers, top performers, getting approached for jobs based on your awesomeness or reputation which are very good, keep it up.

But unfortunately, 99.99% of us, 2 pages resume is what works.

That’s my 2 cents based on my experience.

Happy to hear other thoughts from recruiters.
Feel free to share it in the comment section.

Happy Wednesday😊!

Dear friends,

Congratulations if you’re getting married šŸ‘©ā€ā¤ļøā€šŸ‘Ø this year. I feel so happy when I see many of my friends managed to meet their soulmate. For those who are still single like mešŸ˜‚, before you get married with anyone, please ask your future partner these questions.

1. Discuss bills
2. Parenting styles
3. Credit and debts
4. Religion
5. How to deal with family
6. What believe will be instilled to your children
7. Childhood traumas
8. Sexual expectations
9. Partner expectations
10. Financial expectations
11. Family health history
12. Mental health history
13. Bucket lists
14. Dream home
15. Career
16. Education
17. Political views

…and whatever comes in your mind.

Falling in love is not hard but love is not enough to keep a marriage healthy. The person you choose to marry will be your partner in everything, so you will either lose together or win together. That’s why communication is important😊. Find someone that can accept who you are and willing to be your lifetime supporter.

For all the singles here, be the best, stay fierce and goodluck in finding our soulmates😁.

Happy Monday and stay safeā™„ļø.

The lady you see in this picture may look like someone that has good life.

ā€œWow, she’s smart and talented, I want to be like herā€

ā€œAyu, you’re so young but achieved so much already.ā€

ā€œYou’re so amazing! Do you even have any struggle in life? If compared to you, my life sucks🄲.ā€

Of course, she’s happy when people compliment her but not everyone knows about her struggle. In this post, I’m not talking bad about her but not many people want to share their flaws and sometimes we tend to forget human are not perfect. So, let me share what she faced in order to be who she is today.

Her parents divorced during her 16th birthday. Since then, Ayu doesn’t really meet her real father. That was the darkest moment of her life. Luckily, God sent her a new one that love her like his own daughter. Besides, throughout her life, she always get bullied for her look. People around her are obsessed to be skinny and for them being pretty is more important than being smart. Thanks to them, she was depressed, anxious and even attempted suicide before.

Fortunately, Ayu decided to change her mindset and circle. No matter how bad they treated her, no matter what she has been through, she always remind herself to keep her gold heart and endless love to give. That’s one thing no one can ever take from her. If she has problem, she will help more people. That’s where Ayu start to be grateful again with what she has.

Always remember, they are people out there who love to have our bad days because their challenges are worst. At the end of the day, we accept the reality, we swallow that pain, and smile. That’s how life works.

I know these days have been quite difficult for us. I saw some white flags around my neighborhood and I really hope God will give them strength. Feel free to open up your struggle at the comment section so we can support each other by doing what we can. It’s okay to be not okay!

Happy Saturdayā™„ļø and stay safe!

How to Make Your LinkedIn Profile Stand Out to Recruiters.

According to LinkedIn, 93% of recruiters use LinkedIn to source candidates and yet, amazingly, only 50% of users have a 100% complete profile (All-Star).Ā If you do not have a strong profile,Ā you simplyĀ may not show up in recruiter searches,Ā which means that you couldĀ miss outĀ on an exciting new opportunity.Ā

Therefore, let me share how to make your LinkedIn stand outĀ and catch attention from recruiters, hiring managers, and anyone else you want to network with.

1. Invest in a great headshot
Our headshot is one of the first thing people see in the search result, when we make a post and when we comment on other post. A good profile picture should be clearly visible, plain/blurred background, smiling and make sure your face including shoulders takes up 60% of the frame.

2. Write a descriptive headline that shows your value
Recruiters are looking for skills and experience not unemployed people. So, don't put ā€œLooking for new opportunitiesā€œ in your headline. Instead, list down keyword/phrase for the type of job you want, show your skills/expertise and arrange them based on your priority.

3. Make your LinkedIn content easy to read and skimmable
Recruiters typically mover very quickly through LinkedIn and they will unlikely to read a giant paragraph. So, use bullets, keep your paragraph short and well-spaced.

4. Engage and be active
In order for our profile to be seen by recruiters, you need to also be active on the platform. Ask or answer questions, comment on other people's post, share articles, get connected and post something valuable. This will help your photo and headline are getting seen and that's how your profile will be clicked.

5. Know your audience when writing on LinkedIn
Always think about what readers want. This is why some posts have more engagement that the others. If you want to get noticed by recruiters, create avatar that are similar to them and do research to identify what kind of topics they love to read on LinkedIn. You can stalk them by looking at their ā€œAll activitiesā€œ section.

Hope it helps and happy Monday!

LinkedIn is the new generation of CV.

It’s the truth and let me help you to believe it especially those who have their LinkedIn half-done (no proper picture, no headlines, no banner, private mode) up until today.

When you invest time to be active on LinkedIn, people can look into who you are as a real person instead of just depending on your 2-pages resume.

We can learn more about that person by browsing his/her LinkedIn profile, contents, and comments. We also able to observe how they think and create something, learn about their philosophy and of course how they network with others.

Another good thing about LinkedIn is it’s hard to fake the data. In order to make our LinkedIn presentable, it requires daily work where you need to show your creativity, action and execution.

A good CV/resume can be created maybe around 1 hour or if you have extra money, you can pay people to do it for you. This document is still important but it’s just not enough if you want to stand out.

Hence, if you still not investing time on LinkedIn, I encourage everyone to start sharing your insights, contents and knowledge here starting from today.

Trust me, it’s worth it!

Happy Wednesday and stay safeā™„ļøšŸ¤—.

I just realised most of the fresh graduates once they got the jobs, they're not posting on LinkedIn anymore. Most of them would prefer to be a silent reader and only read other people's posts. Some of them are afraid to post as they are worried about the reaction that they will get especially the negative one. For me, I feel very happy when I post. I know some might not agree with me but in my head, my main aim is to give values to others and I don't think I can't go wrong with that.

Just to share my experience that I got from posting every day in LinkedIn since 3 weeks ago. My profile receives almost 1000 followers and connections each week. By today, my profile views are 9,693. The best part that I like the most is I got to expand my network. Trust me, there are so many wonderful people out there that you can learn and grow from. So, let's start posting and ignore the negativity since we can't satisfy everyone and remember the more you give the more you get, right? šŸ˜‰ #letsconnect #networking #linkedincommunity #freshgraduate #postchallenge #ayu
Hey fresh graduate, let me teach you one of my unique networking tips to find jobs. Believe it or not, I don’t ā€˜network’ by saying ā€œHi, I’m Ayu, are you hiring? If yes, can you view my resume?ā€ Sounds familiar right.Due to pandemic, I found so many people are facing hard time #findingjobs as the number of applicants applying are quite high and also problem in passing the ATS system especially for those who have average results in their studies.

Let’s change the strategy by doing #networking first and then apply jobs. Instead of dming people asking for jobs, why not increase our personal branding instead. Firstly, comment on famous posts especially our targeted companies and hiring team posts. Use our detective talent to learn about the hiring manager and create contents that can grab their attention, if you’re bold enough, tag them to ask for their opinion. Join the events and podcast that they offer.

This will make sure that they know our existence. We want to create a position that enable us to become a #magnet that can attract like-minded #opportunities. I know this trick is very time consuming but by doing so we will be standing out from the pack. Let’s not just focus on the task of finding jobs, but create a system that networks for us and integrates into our life. #ayu
ā€œDo you think you can live until 50 years old šŸ¤” ?ā€

That was the question I asked myself after my dad, who was 57, and my grandma, who was 76, passed away this year.

I’m only 27, and after multiple long 'staycations' in the hospital this year, I’ve done a lot of thinking.

Talking about death might be sensitive, but I want to open up about something: I’ve come to terms with it. I trust in God’s timing, knowing it could be any moment, even as peacefully as in my sleep or when I'm doing work.

So, before anything happens, and nobody knows when, I want to achieve as many dreams as I can, and that’s why I’m sharing this post on LinkedIn to remind everyone here about this too…

…as life is short.

We might get 2,600 weeks (50 years) if we’re lucky.

So,

Book that flight.
Buy nice stuff for yourself.
Eat good food.
Start new hobbies.
Spend time with your loved ones.

Let’s rethink our priorities a bit.

While staying healthy matters, but so is being happy. The aim is to check off as many items on our bucket list while we still have the chance.

Remember, while money can often be found, time is something we can never get back.

What do you think?
Do you agree with me?

If you’re a LinkedIn freshy and want to grow on this platform, here’s the strategyšŸ¤”.

Find popular posts and be the first to leave an insightful comment there.

Trust me, this works like magic because people on LinkedIn love to read comments especially when the comments are very insightful and long.

Fabulous comment will lead more people to click your profile as they want to get to know your background because you attract their attention.

Avoid simple comments like ā€œIndeedā€ or ā€œWell saidā€. This will not spark any interest.

We need an insightful, helpful and witty comment that will add attraction to our name and make people check us out and eventually increase our visibility.

Share this post and let’s start to comment more on LinkedIn.

Give it a gošŸ’ŖšŸ».

Happy Thursday and stay safe!
