I am pleased to announce that Doniel Sutton (she/her) will join the Pinterest Executive Team as Chief People Officer next week. Doniel and I worked together at PayPal and I am honored she has agreed to join us here at Pinterest.

Doniel’s arrival marks a significant step in Pinterest’s journey. The company is at a pivotal point as we look to celebrate five years since our IPO. Doniel’s extensive experience is perfectly suited to take Pinterest into its next chapter. She has a proven track record in tech - helping brands deepen user engagement, driving revenue growth, and managing diverse, fast-moving global teams. Her enthusiasm for Pinterest (she is an avid Pinner), signals a deep personal connection to our plans to create the most positive place on the Internet. Her own talents align perfectly with Pinterest’s strategic goals for 2024 and beyond.

Doniel has a strong commitment to mental health and wellness in the workplace and in her personal life. She is also very passionate about philanthropy, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of leaders through her board service and professional development initiatives. Doniel’s passion for developing talent and her dedication to inclusivity and well-being, alongside her professional acumen, will be crucial in building on Pinterest’s culture. I am confident that she is the right leader to guide our people strategy during this new chapter.

I also want to thank Christine Deputy for her years of dedication to Pinterest and its culture. During her tenure, she built out the people function here at Pinterest, all with a strong commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and transparent pay equity.

Welcome, Doniel!

Today, tech CEOs are testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on their efforts to protect children online. I’ve said this before: If social media does not change its ways, it will soon become today’s Big Tobacco – addictive and harmful.

But it doesn't have to be this way. We have the opportunity to disrupt current business models before we lose more young people to negativity. More on how I propose we do so in The Hill:
Positivity is our competitive superpower at Pinterest. As users look for alternatives to divisiveness and toxicity in other online spaces, we're betting on hope, not hatred to drive engagement and results.

That bet on positivity is paying off: our platform has never been more actionable and shoppable, people are coming to Pinterest more and engaging more deeply, and advertisers are seeing results.

Great to speak with Fast Company on how we intentionally build positivity into our business model: https://lnkd.in/g8KjzRPF
