We are having so much fun celebrating Black History Month at The Honest Company because we know that Black History is being made every single day! We've got playlists, events, and employees shining proudly in all of their cultural magnificence. But, we aren't keeping all of the fun to ourselves. We are sharing it with you and with the world. So I'm kicking this off with a celebration of some of my favorite Black founders and creators. Let's Go!
Celebrating you Kim Alexis Newton for turning your dream of quilting as a medium for storytelling and inspiration into a glorious business reality. At Honest, you know we 💜 the butterfly quilt. 🦋 #blackbutterfly
Hungry? My favorite food founders are serving it up. Check out the African heritage inspired Ayo West African Foods by Perteet Spencer and Frederick Spencer. You know the food has to be seasoned right, even when it has to be on the table fast. Thanks Ibraheem Basir for the way A Dozen Cousins makes some of us look like we can cook. 😄
Just when they said a category was too entrenched to be disrupted, Beatrice Dixon showed up with The Honey Pot Company and showed the big guys that the world needs new things. Ladies, IYKYN.😉
Not so long ago the cosmetics industry told themselves that Black and Brown women didn't want makeup and didn't wear makeup. Whut? Yes. Unfortunately, I have shoeboxes full of photos from my teenage years with that pinky-beige mismatched foundation on my face that prove the point. But, today's we can glow, shine, and evoke our essence thanks to iconic beauty founder and legend Iman. And, that breakthrough continues through Mented Cosmetics founded by KJ Miller and Amanda E/J Morrison.
We don't just serve face. We also serve hair with body-ody-ody y'all. Because our curly crowns deserve better, Stefan L. Miller, MBA and Cora Miller founded Young King Hair Care and brought it to the big stage!
And boom, bam, kapow! Sometimes you need to wear your energy and motivation. That is why Kalilah Wright brings that bold King and Queen energy to life through the clothes, bags and accessories of Mess in a Bottle.
We are living through the creations of these Black History makers because Black History is now! 🤎🤎🤎🦋
