This is so true.

I was a terrible manager when first given the opportunity.

Leading by example came naturally to me, but quality management is an art and science that wasn’t prepared for.

Although i’m not as terrible as I was before, I’m still learning everyday and trying to share what i’ve learned with others going through the same boat.

Here are a few things i’ve learnt along the way:

* Promote Work-Life Balance: Encourage employees to take breaks, use their holiday entitlement, and set boundaries between work and personal life. Lead by example by respecting these boundaries yourself.

* Provide Clear Expectations: Clearly communicate goals, expectations, and timelines to reduce uncertainty and stress. Ensure that each team member understands their role and how it contributes to the overall success of the team.

* Offer Support and Resources: Be approachable and available to listen to your team members' concerns and provide guidance. Offer resources such as counselling services, mental health days, or flexible working arrangements to support their well-being.

* Recognise and Appreciate: Regularly acknowledge and appreciate your team members' contributions and achievements. This can be done publicly or privately, depending on the individual's preference, to boost morale and motivation.

* Encourage Open Communication: Foster a culture of open communication where team members feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, concerns, and ideas without fear of judgement or reprisal. Actively listen to their feedback and address any issues promptly.

* Provide Opportunities for Growth: Offer training, professional development opportunities, and career advancement paths to help employees develop their skills and reach their full potential. Recognise and celebrate their progress and achievements along the way.

* Promote Collaboration and Team Bonding: Encourage collaboration, teamwork, and mutual support among team members. Organise team-building activities, social events, or volunteer opportunities to strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging.

* Lead with Empathy and Compassion: Take the time to understand your team members' individual needs, challenges, and strengths. Show empathy and compassion in your interactions and decisions, and be flexible and accommodating when necessary.

* Create a Positive Work Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment where diversity is valued, and everyone feels respected, heard, and appreciated. Address any conflicts or issues promptly and promote a culture of mutual respect and support.

* Monitor and Address Burnout: Keep an eye out for signs of burnout, such as decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, or changes in behaviour. Take proactive steps to address workload issues, provide additional support, or adjust expectations as needed to prevent burnout and support employee well-being.

Hope these help! Your team will thank you for it ❤️

Leaders, get a grip of your unsolved insecurities.

I mean it.

Bullies aren’t just teenagers in school - they're also adults in the office, hiding behind titles and corner offices.

They might wear suits instead of backpacks, but their game is the same: making others feel small so they can feel big.

They think their position gives them a license to belittle, but it’s just a mask for their own insecurities.

They use their authority to break others’ spirits, not because they’re strong, but because it’s easier than confronting their own flaws.

They turn boardrooms into battlegrounds, not to build, but to dominate.

It’s not leadership; it’s just a new form of playground power trips.

But titles don’t define character.

Real strength doesn’t come from tearing others down - it’s about creating spaces where everyone can rise.

True leaders don’t need to crush others to feel tall; they lift as they climb.

The real flex? It’s using influence to uplift, to make sure people leave better than they came in.

Let them play their games, because while they’re chasing power, you’re building something deeper - respect, trust, and a legacy that can’t be shaken.

Harsh, but true 🙏🏾

You know I like to keep thing positive, however I gotta keep it real.

Knowing you’re replaceable is one of the most empowering things ever.

By compartmentalising and approaching work objectively, rather than intertwining your self-worth, you can become an elite performer who handles situations with objectivity, rather than taking things personally.

Whilst I may not epitomise the pinnacle of work-life balance, I've actively pursued strategies to weave family time into my routine after recognising its importance.

Here's what's worked for me:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Prioritise Family Time: Consciously carve out dedicated moments for family amidst your bustling schedule.

🗨️ Foster Open Communication: Keep channels of dialogue with loved ones wide open, showcasing your commitment and ensuring their sense of importance.

🌟 Embrace Quality Over Quantity: Concentrate on the depth of family interactions, making each moment substantial and memorable.

🎉 Establish Traditions: Cultivate family rituals or customs that seamlessly integrate into your busy life, fostering connection.

🤝 Share Responsibilities: Engage your family in daily tasks and duties to cultivate a spirit of collaboration and unity.

🔄 Remain Flexible and Adaptive: Maintain a flexible mindset, tweaking your timetable as necessary to accommodate family needs while staying true to your industrious spirit.

Let’s be clear:

You’re not running a day care. You’ve hired skilled professionals, not children.

So why waste your time clock-watching and breathing down their necks?

Your role isn’t to micromanage - it’s to lead.

Set the vision, clear the obstacles, and trust your team to get on with it.

Focus on outcomes, not attendance.

The real question isn’t “Were they at their desk?” but “Did they deliver?”

Here’s the hard truth:

Micromanagement kills creativity and drives talent out the door.

No one thrives in an environment where they’re constantly questioned.

Real leaders empower their teams to take ownership and excel.

If you don’t trust the people you’ve hired, that’s not their failing - it’s yours.

Leadership isn’t about control; it’s about creating space for your team to flourish.

Stop obsessing over the clock, and start measuring what actually matters. Results.

Trust them. Empower them. Step back. You’ll be surprised by what they achieve.

While I understand that the phrase “match their energy“ has gained popularity among Gen Z, I'm not particularly fond of it. Yes, safeguarding your own energy is crucial; however, I don't endorse the idea that your energy and actions should be controlled by someone else.

Instead, I prefer the concept of behaving from a place of self-assurance and making sure to safeguard the qualities that define you as a kind person.

Here's how you can avoid being influenced by negative vibes:

🌟 Know Your Values: Understanding your core principles and what you stand for provides a strong foundation for your actions and decisions.

🚧 Set Boundaries: Protect your well-being by clearly defining your limits when dealing with negative individuals. This helps maintain your emotional health.

⚖️ Choose Wisely: Make thoughtful choices about when to engage with negativity. Sometimes, it's best to conserve your energy and disengage rather than confront.

🤗 Surround Yourself Positively: Cultivate a support network of uplifting and positive individuals who can inspire and encourage you in difficult times.

🤝 Practice Empathy: Strive to empathize with others' perspectives, even when they behave poorly. This doesn't mean condoning their actions but helps you maintain your compassion.

🧘‍♂️ Self-Care: Regularly engage in self-care activities such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones to reduce stress and maintain balance in your life.

📚 Learn and Let Go: Use negative experiences as opportunities for personal growth. Reflect on these encounters and practice forgiveness to release lingering negativity, allowing yourself to move forward with a lighter heart.

Hiring for experience is PLAYING IT SAFE.

It’s choosing predictability over possibility.

It’s assuming that because someone has done something before, they’ll do it better than the person who hasn’t.

But here’s the truth - 99% of jobs can be learned.

What actually moves companies forward isn’t past experience; it’s the ability to adapt, to think, to figure things out.

The problem with hiring only for experience is that it prioritises repetition over reinvention.

It stacks teams with people trained in how things have been done, instead of people hungry to figure out how things should be done.

Experience isn’t useless, but it should be used strategically - to guide, to mentor, to help avoid common mistakes.

Not to dictate who gets a shot.

The best teams aren’t built on who’s done it before.

They’re built on who’s willing to do what hasn’t been done yet. If you’re hiring just to repeat the past, you’re already behind.

This is more than advice - it’s a responsibility.

It’s about showing up in ways you once wished someone had for you.

START WITH EMPATHY

Remember what it felt like to be unsure but eager, full of ideas but hesitant to speak.

Create the space you needed back then.

* Demystify the Rules: Share the shortcuts, the politics, and the lessons you learned the hard way.

* Share Credit, Take Blame: Let them shine in success and protect them in failure.

OPEN DOORS

Your role isn’t to gatekeep a - it’s to build bridges.

* Connect Them: A simple introduction can open life-changing opportunities.

* Ask and Listen: Their fresh perspective
might just spark your next big idea.

TEACH BEYOND THE JOB

You’re shaping future leaders, not just capable employees.

* Let Them Fail Safely: Mistakes are where the real growth happens.

* Expose Them to Big Conversations: Give them a seat at the table, even if it’s just to observe.

STAY HUMAN

Leadership isn’t about perfection - it’s about connection.

* Check In, Then Check Again: Ask how they’re really doing.

* Model Balance: Show them it’s okay to work hard without burning out.

* Admit You Don’t Know: Vulnerability builds trust.

Being the senior you needed is about legacy.

One day, they’ll do the same for someone else because of how you showed up.

Real Leaders Protect Their Teams.

Not the ones who micromanage. Not the ones who play office politics. Not the ones who set unrealistic expectations, then pass the blame when things go wrong.

A real leader is a shield. They take the hits so their team can focus on the work that actually matters. They cut through the noise - unnecessary distractions, vague communication, corporate drama - so their people can build.

Toxic environments don’t just kill creativity, they kill momentum. They make good people second-guess themselves. They turn potential into burnout.

The best managers? They don’t just manage. They protect, empower, and amplify.

If you’ve got one, appreciate them. If you are one, keep leading the way.

The term “immigrant“ often gets a bad rap.

I believe adopting an Immigrant Mentality is a superpower, and here's why:

🚀 Resilience: Immigrants conquer new challenges with unwavering resilience, turning obstacles into stepping stones for success.

💬 Multilingual Proficiency: The mastery of multiple languages fosters cross-cultural communication and creates a competitive edge in a globalised world.

🌍 Cultural Intelligence: Growing up with diverse influences fuels cultural intelligence, empowering immigrants to navigate intercultural interactions effortlessly.

💡 Innovation: Immigrants' unique backgrounds inspire fresh perspectives and ideas, propelling innovation and progress across various fields.

💼 Work Ethic: Fueled by ambition, immigrants go the extra mile to achieve their goals, exemplifying exceptional work ethic and dedication.

🙏 Gratitude and Opportunity Appreciation: Immigrants cherish opportunities, displaying deep gratitude and making the most of life-changing experiences.

🎭 Cultural Enrichment: Embracing diversity, immigrants enrich societies with their celebrations of cultural uniqueness, fostering an inclusive and vibrant community.

Kind leaders > Nice Leaders

Over time, I’ve found that the best leaders are kind, not nice.

Here’s why:

Authenticity: Kindness stems from genuine care and empathy, whereas niceness often masks true feelings or intentions. Being kind means being sincere and considerate, fostering deeper and more meaningful connections with others.

Impactful Feedback: Kindness involves providing honest and constructive feedback aimed at helping others grow and improve. In contrast, niceness may avoid difficult conversations, leading to superficial interactions and missed opportunities for personal and professional development.

Long-Term Relationships: Kindness builds strong, lasting relationships based on trust and mutual respect. While niceness may create temporary harmony, it can lead to misunderstandings or resentment when genuine issues are left unaddressed.

Positive Environment: Kindness cultivates a positive and supportive environment where individuals feel valued and empowered to be their authentic selves. Niceness, on the other hand, may prioritize superficial harmony over addressing underlying issues, potentially fostering tension or negativity in the long run.

Personal Growth: Choosing kindness over niceness encourages personal growth and self-awareness. By practicing kindness, individuals develop empathy, emotional intelligence, and resilience, contributing to their overall well-being and success.

In essence, kindness goes beyond surface-level interactions to create a world where understanding, compassion, and genuine human connection thrive, making it a superior approach to niceness in both personal and professional contexts.

CLAP LOUDER for the people at the back! 👏🏾👏🏾

Holding space for others’ wins, even while you’re waiting for yours, is next-level patience and perspective.

It’s not about whose moment it is right now - - life’s not a competition, it’s a rhythm we’re all moving to together.

Celebrating others without envy builds more than just community; it builds resilience, trust, and keeps you grounded.

It’s faith in action, believing that every clap you give puts good energy into the world and reinforces your own journey.

When your moment hits, it’ll mean that much more because you know you’ve supported others on the way.

Real fulfillment is collective; success doesn’t have to be scarce.

Keep clapping, stay connected, and remember: there’s room for everyone at the top.

90% of jobs can be taught.

Stop gatekeeping. Stop writing people off because they don’t tick every box on some arbitrary checklist.

Skills can be learned - what you can’t teach is hunger, drive, and the willingness to grow.

Here’s the truth:
You’re not hiring a résumé; you’re hiring potential. Someone gave you a chance once - so why are you making it so hard for others?

The world doesn’t need more perfect candidates. It needs more leaders willing to bet on people who are ready to prove themselves.

Give people a f*cking chance. You might just find the best hire you’ll ever make.

Hollywood films tricked us into thinking that successful business people are constantly shrewd, difficult and maintain a dog ear dog mentaility. While these characters do exist and are somewhat successful, I’ve found that the people consistently at the top of their game are those that not only make it easy to do business and are also amazing to work with.

Embracing approachability and collaboration isn't a weakness; it's a strategic approach that boosts efficiency, reputation, and long-term success in business.

So, how do you become easier to work with?

🤝 Cultivate Empathy: Put yourself in others' shoes and strive to understand their perspectives, needs, and challenges. Approach interactions with empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to collaborate.

📞 Communicate Effectively: Practice active listening and clear communication to ensure that your messages are understood and appreciated. Seek feedback, ask questions, and clarify expectations to avoid misunderstandings.

🤗 Be Supportive: Offer support and assistance to your colleagues whenever possible. Be approachable, responsive, and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Build trust and camaraderie by demonstrating reliability and dependability.

😊 Maintain a Positive Attitude: Approach work with a positive attitude and a can-do mindset. Stay optimistic, resilient, and adaptable in the face of challenges, and inspire others with your enthusiasm and positivity.

🌱 Foster Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where everyone's contributions are valued and respected. Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and mutual support to achieve shared goals and objectives.

🤔 Seek Solutions: Focus on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems or conflicts. Approach challenges with a proactive and constructive mindset, and work collaboratively with others to overcome obstacles and achieve success.

🎉 Celebrate Team Success: Recognise and celebrate the achievements and milestones of your team. Acknowledge their efforts and contributions, and celebrate successes together to foster a sense of unity and accomplishment.

If it costs your peace, it isn’t worth it 🧘🏾‍♂️

My friend, Andrew Lokenauth, was passed over for an internal promotion, even though he was clearly the most qualified.

Later, he found out that the person who got the job was a friend of the hiring manager.

It was a hard pill to swallow, and Andrew was fed up with the office politics. So, he decided to start looking for other opportunities.

Within a month, he found a much better job—one that truly valued his skills and experience.

It was a turning point for him.

He stopped doubting himself and realised that while growth and change can be painful, nothing is worse than staying stuck in a place that doesn’t see your worth.

Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is walk away from a situation that’s holding you back.

Three months later, his old company reached out, asking him to come back.

But Andrew, knowing his value, politely declined.

This story is a reminder: never push a loyal person to the point where they stop caring.

A salary increase might make you happy for a moment, but a healthy, supportive workplace keeps you fulfilled all year long. Don’t settle for less than you deserve.

Bad management keeps you stuck in dead-end jobs, while good management helps you grow and thrive.

Know your worth, and never be afraid to seek out a place that will nurture your potential and appreciate the unique contributions you bring
Post image by Elfried Samba
THIS energy 🔥

I won't sugarcoat it: being genuinely happy for others, especially when you're not where you want to be, is tough. It's a challenge, no doubt. In fact, we are wired this way.

However, here's the thing: cultivating gratitude and even joy for others can propel you to unexpected heights.

Once you let go of the belief that someone else's success diminishes your own, you unlock a new level of potential.

It's like shifting into a higher gear, entering a realm where you embrace abundance and possibilities.

When you celebrate others' achievements, you're not just being kind; you're also opening yourself up to a mindset of abundance. You start seeing opportunities where you once saw competition, and you realize that there's enough success to go around for everyone.

Moreover, practicing gratitude and happiness for others fosters a positive energy that attracts more positivity into your own life. It's like sending out ripples of good vibes that come back to you in unexpected ways.

So, while it may be challenging at times, choosing to genuinely celebrate others' successes is not just an act of kindness - it's also a powerful catalyst for your own growth and fulfillment.

The Blueprint for Building an Unshakable Team

Like Hala Taha, I’ve been a CEO for over two years, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: hiring isn’t about résumés or titles - it’s about building a team with soul.

There’s three important things to look at: character, attitude, and reliability.

Character is the foundation - who you are when no one’s watching.

Attitude is the energy you bring, the way you stay hungry when the path gets tough.

Reliability is trust - showing up every time, ready to deliver, no excuses.

While skills can be taught and knowledge can be shared, these three? They can’t be downloaded or learned overnight.

They’re instinctual, they’re raw, and they’re non-negotiable.

Because at the end of the day, a great team isn’t just about talent - it’s about building something that stands, something that grows, something that leaves a legacy.

PREACH 🙏🏾

The idea of referring to your team as “family” has gained popularity in recent years, resembling a cult-like trend.

Although it may seem appealing, it can be surprisingly detrimental, conflicting with the fundamental principles of a smoothly operating business.

Here's why you should avoid it:

👋 Clear Departures: Families don't let people go, but in the workplace, departures are a natural part of career progression

💰 Performance-Based Compensation: Families don't get paid to perform, while employees receive compensation based on their contributions at work

📊 Performance Tracking: Families don't track performance, but effective businesses rely on performance metrics to thrive

🚶‍♂️ Professional Mobility: In the business world, employees can leave one team to join another, unlike in a family scenario

👥 Team Focus: Instead of a family, think of your workplace as a team, working together to achieve shared goals

🎯 Shared Objectives: A team works collectively toward common objectives, aligning everyone's efforts

🤝 Accountability: In a team, every member must pull their weight and be accountable for their contributions

🚫 Toxic: The dynamic is often one-sided. Everything is good when things are going well, but the atmosphere can shift dramatically leading to confusion and ultimately resentment

📈 Performance Expectations: Clarifying performance expectations is essential for team success

🤝 Collaborative Success: Embracing the team mindset promotes collaboration and mutual support to achieve success

🚗 This isn’t Fast and Furious

In short, treat them like a team, not a family ❤️

This is the worst I’m ever going to be.

Of course, this isn’t true…

It’s just another way I’ve learned to mind-f*ck myself into moving forward. Into believing things will get better.

Into not settling for where I am.

It’s a mantra I whisper when life feels heavy, chaotic, unfair. When I’m standing in the middle of struggle, staring at the mountain ahead, wondering how the hell I’m going to climb it.

Because here’s what I’ve realised:

The world will always try to pull you down.

Markets crash. People disappoint you. Plans fall apart. Life beats you up.

If you’re not careful, you start believing the hits define you.

You start accepting this is “just how it is.”

You start settling into the struggle instead of standing up to it.

But that line - this is the worst I’m ever going to be

It’s not arrogance.
It’s not delusion.
It’s defiance.

A refusal to let today’s reality cap tomorrow’s potential.

It’s a mental override that keeps me optimistic - not because life is easy, but because I’ve decided hopelessness isn’t an option.

And that mindset?

It’s not just about surviving tough times.
It’s a superpower.

One I look for in every partner, every hire, every leader I work with.

Because here’s the truth nobody says out loud:

Talent without resilience doesn’t scale.

Intelligence without optimism doesn’t inspire.

Skill without belief collapses under pressure.

I don’t just want people who’ve won.

I want people who’ve struggled and still stood up.

Who’ve been broke - not just in their bank account, but in their spirit and rebuilt anyway.

Who know how to self-talk their way out of darkness, even if it’s messy, even if it’s slow.
That kind of mindset?

That’s the difference between people who crack under pressure and people who bend but don’t break.

So yeah - call it “toxic positivity” if you want.

I call it a survival mechanism. A hiring filter. A leadership requirement.

Because if you’ve ever had to mind-fuck yourself into believing in a better future…

You’re exactly the kind of person I want in the room.

Optimism isn’t naive.

It’s necessary.

If every word shakes you, you're letting the world script your story.

Real power is in restraint - knowing when to engage and when to let the noise pass through you.

The loudest voices don't always deserve your energy.

Emotional discipline isn't about being numb; it's about choosing where your focus goes.

When you master your reactions, you stop living on defence and start moving with intent.

The moment you stop giving power to every opinion, you start building a reality that's truly yours.

I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great leaders. However, I’ve also been exposed to some that were pretty toxic.

Here are a few red flags that can help you spot them early:

🗣️Constant Blame: Shifting blame onto others rather than taking responsibility.

💔 Lack of Empathy: Disregarding others' feelings and needs consistently.

👀 Micromanagement: Excessive control and a lack of trust in team members.

🤝Favouritism: Showing unfair preference towards certain individuals, damaging team morale.

🙉 Poor Communication: Withholding information, ignoring feedback, or being unclear in instructions.

🍆 Ego-Centric: Prioritising personal glory over the team's success and well-being.

🛑 Resistance to Change: Rejecting new ideas and clinging to outdated methods.

😡😇Inconsistent Behaviour: Fluctuating mood, decisions, or values leading to confusion.

🤔 Undermining Others: Putting down team members or sabotaging their efforts.

🙀 Fear-Driven Atmosphere: Ruling by fear, creating a tense and stressful work environment.

Remember, one or two of these can be harmless, but if they pile up… 🏃🏽‍♂️💨

Note to self! 📝

It's common to assume that new team members will “Hit The Ground Running”, but the reality is that thorough onboarding takes time.

Simply throwing people into the deep end and expecting them to thrive isn't effective; leaders are responsible of ensuring new hires are set up for success.

Failing to do so risks losing valuable talent.

Here's how you can support your new hires:

* Comprehensive Onboarding Material:
Provide comprehensive onboarding material that covers essential information about the company, its culture, values, policies, and procedures. This material should be easily accessible and understandable.

* Assigned Onboarding Buddy or Mentor:
Assign an experienced employee as a buddy or mentor to guide new hires through their initial days. This mentor should offer support, answer questions, and provide insights into the company's dynamics.

* Structured Training Programs:
Implement structured training programs tailored to the role and responsibilities of the new hire. These programs should include hands-on activities, simulations, and real-world scenarios to reinforce learning.

* Feedback Mechanisms:
Establish regular feedback mechanisms to assess new hires' progress during the onboarding and training process. This feedback can help identify areas of improvement and address any challenges they may encounter.

* Continuous Learning Opportunities:
Offer continuous learning opportunities beyond initial onboarding to support ongoing skill development and career growth. This could include workshops, seminars, online courses, or mentorship programs.

* Evaluation and Adjustments:
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of your onboarding and training processes through feedback from both new hires and their managers.

Absolute Facts 🔥

Choosing supportive and proactive people as part of your network can significantly enhance your personal and professional growth. Conversely, associating with people who are indifferent or negative can be a major barrier to achieving your potential.

Here is why:

Advocacy and Support: Being surrounded by individuals who actively support and advocate for you can open doors that you might not even be aware of. These people are likely to highlight your strengths and achievements in situations where it matters, providing you with valuable opportunities for growth and success.

Networking and Visibility: When people mention your name in a positive context, it increases your visibility in professional and social networks. This can lead to new connections, collaborations, and opportunities that can further your career or personal goals.

Confidence and Motivation: Knowing that others believe in you and are willing to vouch for you can boost your confidence and motivation. It reinforces the idea that you are valued and capable, encouraging you to pursue your goals with greater determination.

On the flip side, hanging out with people who are the opposite can be detrimental:

Negative Influence: People who do not support you or even undermine you can erode your confidence and self-esteem. They might discourage you from pursuing opportunities or make you doubt your abilities.

Missed Opportunities: If you are surrounded by individuals who are not willing to advocate for you, you might miss out on important opportunities that could have been easily accessible with the right support.

Toxic Environment: Negative or indifferent individuals can create a toxic environment that drains your energy and enthusiasm. This can lead to decreased productivity and a lack of motivation to strive for your best.

Reputation Damage: If people in your network do not speak positively about you, it can harm your reputation and limit your chances of being considered for opportunities. In some cases, they might even spread negative perceptions that could hinder your progress.

Just do it. If you’re scared, then do it scared. 🔥

It’s important not to count yourself out of any opportunity without trying. It’s really not about the end goal, it’s about who you become in the process.

Here’s what happens when you say f*ck it and give it a go:

🌟 Maximise Your Potential: When you self-reject, you limit your potential for growth and success. It's like turning away from a door that might lead to valuable experiences and personal development.

🚀 Embrace Challenges: Opportunities often come with challenges. By avoiding them out of self-doubt or fear, you miss chances to prove your capabilities and resilience.

🦸🏾‍♂️ Discover Hidden Talents: Sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone reveals talents and skills you never knew you had. Embracing opportunities allows you to uncover your full potential.

🤝 Build Confidence: Each opportunity you seize, even if it feels daunting at first, contributes to building your confidence. It's a step towards believing in your abilities.

🔍 Learn and Adapt: New roles and experiences provide opportunities to learn and adapt. Even if you feel unprepared initially, you can grow into the role with time and effort.

💪 Overcome Self-Limiting Beliefs: Self-rejection often stems from self-limiting beliefs. Challenging these beliefs by pursuing opportunities can lead to personal breakthroughs.

🎯 Achieve Your Goals: Your career and life goals often require taking risks and pursuing opportunities. Self-rejection may hinder your progress towards these aspirations.

In short, by not self-rejecting from jobs or opportunities, you open doors to growth, self-discovery, and the fulfillment of your goals. Embrace challenges, believe in your potential, and dare to explore what the future holds.

What’s ACTUALLY holding you back?

My relationship with risk is complicated.
I spent 3 decades crafting a personal cocoon where I stuck to the same routines, wore the same clothes, and let the need for certainty dictate every choice I made.

While this does help me navigate through life, I realised that my relentless pursuit of comfort was actually holding me back.

While going against the path of least resistance is still a constant battle. I remind myself that I CAN’T AFFORD TO NOT TAKE CALCULATED RISKS.

Here’s why:

❌ Stagnation:
Without risks, you might find yourself stuck in the same place, missing out on new experiences and opportunities for growth

❌ Missed Opportunities:
Avoiding risks means you could miss exciting chances in both your career and personal life, leaving you wondering what could have been

❌ Regret:
Regret often lingers when you avoid taking chances, filling your life with thoughts of “what if.“

❌ Limited Learning:
Risks often bring valuable lessons. By steering clear of them, you might miss out on the chance to learn, grow, and improve

❌ Resilience:
Not facing challenges means you might not develop the resilience needed to bounce back from life's setbacks

❌ Unfulfilled Potential:
Your true potential may remain hidden, as avoiding risks can keep you from discovering talents and skills you never knew you had

Whether you put on a brave face OR just do it scared… The key is to strive for progress each day, and you'll be just fine 🙏🏾

ABSOLUTE FACTS 🔥

People often overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what you can do in 10 years.

Imagine what you could do with 50 🙆🏿‍♂️

Balenciaga posted the image on the left as part of their Spring 2024 collection ($925 for the towel skirt!)

Stop trying to impress other marketers. Focus on driving value for your customer.

After a decade in the marketing industry, I've observed two main categories:

1) those who obsess over what's right for the customer

2)those who soleycare more about personal reputation.

While I don't necessarily think that the latter is wrong, it does come with some challenges, including:

🚫 Limited Value: Prioritising impressing peers over delivering customer value

🧩 Complexity: Resulting in convoluted and confusing messaging

🎯 Narrow Audience: Appeal limited to a niche group, missing the wider customer base

📈 Trend Chasing: Focusing on trends and buzzwords instead of customer needs

🌟 Short-Term Gains: Producing short-lived attention, lacking long-term loyalty

On the other hand, focusing on the customer is essential because:

✅ Customer-Centric: Ensures alignment with customer wants and needs

🌱 Sustainability: Builds enduring customer relationships and trust

💡 Value-Driven: Creates products and content genuinely benefiting the audience

📢 Clear Communication: Leads to straightforward, relatable messaging

📈 Business Success: Ultimately, happy customers drive business growth and prosperity.

In short, you’re more likely to build a positive personal brand when you deliver results for your customers.

Don't get in the way of your own success 😉
