It sounds good. Feels intuitive. And is dead wrong.

Because in reality, business is not a game. It's war.

And in war, you don't play like you practice. You practice like your life depends on it. Because it does.

The truth about business is this:

Itโ€™s messy. Unpredictable. Unfair.

You think you've got it figured out. And suddenly, the rules change.๐Ÿค“ I see this all.the.time. Owners come to me and want to sell because they were on fire pre-Covid, but now their business is chugging along but no where near where it once was...the value today yesterday is gone. This is why you need a plan.

Your best people quit. Investors pull out. Competitors copy you overnight. Covid disrupts the market.

If you play in business like you do in practice, here's what happens:

You get comfortable. Start slacking. Ignore the fires until they burn you down.
