Sustainability is close to my heart, and I’m proud of the progress we are making, with 40 energy transition projects, several key initiatives to eliminate coal in our soda ash business, our diversity, equity and inclusion roadmap, and much more.

As we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science, I wanted to share another wonderful photo from the 1933 Solvay physics conference, which includes three incredibly inspiring women: Marie Curie who was the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice; her daughter Irène Joliot-Curie who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with her husband for their discovery of artificial radioactivity; and Lise Meitner who co-discovered the element protactinium and nuclear fission — and was called the “German Marie Curie” by Albert Einstein.

The legacy continues: I’m proud that the last two winners of the #SolvayPrize were two amazing women scientists Carolyn Bertozzi and Katalin Karikó. Let’s continue to promote our female leaders in #STEM!
