I used to sleep on this table in my cousin’s office at Masjid Bandar.

During the daytime, I used to work here in the office. At night, this became my bedroom. This happened for 3 LONG Years after becoming a CA.

I still visit this place and take my colleagues here to show them the exact table where I used to sleep. Even after 40 years, this is the same table and I have so many memories attached to this place.

As it is rightly said, don’t let your limitations challenge you – but challenge your limitations.

I had no source of income, and therefore, I decided to start my own practice where I used to handle accounting work, audits of cooperative societies etc.

However, the turning point of my career was when I had cleared my CA exams and went to give some sweets to my proprietor of the coaching class where I had studied Operations Research. He was not there in the class. The peon asked me to keep the sweets on the desk but I was so adamant that I wanted to give it to him personally.

The next day, when I gave him the sweets by my hands, he asked me a simple question:

“Do you think you can teach Operations Research?”

Without hesitation, I said YES!

In fact, you will be surprised but I could not even speak English properly at that time as I was from Gujarati medium. I said YES, and that’s how my teaching journey started.

I am glad I did not just keep the sweets on the desk of the proprietor of the coaching class.

Who said CA Students have no college life! :)

Happy to share that we, at J K Shah Classes, successfully concluded our 3rd residential program for CA Intermediate Jan’25 batch at Gir (Gujarat) that spanned over 45 days.

The children stayed in a hostel and made friends for lifetime.

Dancing in the hostel at nights, hearing the roar of lions at midnight, having lunch and dinner together with new friends, having some jamming sessions in the evening, and someone performing beatboxing in front of entire batch – all of them would be captured in their memories.

I went to Gir just to see the happiness on the faces of students on the last day. Accompanied with me was Kushal Lodha, motivating all the students to clear their CA exams in one go and sharing his secrets of getting a single digit All India Rank at each of the 3 levels.

I remembered my CA Days when I saw all the students – made me extremely nostalgic!

The main reason we started something like this at J K Shah Classes is because we felt that when like-minded individuals meet, extraordinary things are bound to happen. The kind of questions, quality of conversations, and the network that everyone builds are flawless.

Wish all the students good luck for their upcoming exams and cannot wait to launch the next residential batch for CA students very soon. Stay tuned for further updates :)

ICAI did an amazing job by not postponing the CA Exams! Let me tell you why.

1. The postponement would not only delay the results of this exam but also directly affect the date for the September exam, as there would hardly be any time left between the two subsequently.

2. I know a lot of students think that postponement would have gotten them more time to prepare, but CA exams are such that you never feel your preparation is enough. Even in the past, whenever exams were postponed, no significant changes have been seen in the passing percentage or performance of students.

So, the harsh truth for those who feel unprepared at this stage is that they will never feel prepared even if the exams are postponed.

3. I also feel that students who were studying with all seriousness would never be in favor of delaying the exams, as it breaks the rhythm of preparation, and complacency starts to settle in.

A message to all the students: avoid all the negativity on social media, focus on your studies right now, eliminate all sorts of distractions, and make sure to make your parents proud.

It is beyond our control to postpone the exams or not; however, it is definitely in our control to give our best in exams and study hard to add that prefix: CA!

Once a CA, you are always a CA!

I have never spoken about this on any platform before!

As a kid, who came from extremely poor family background, I always had thought that, if at all god makes me capable, I would do anything to ensure none sleeps hungry.

I always believed in giving back and it all started in 2010 when I set up a charitable trust in the name of my parents and parents-in-law. This was to provide groceries to the needy and we started providing it to around 50 office boys. Also, we started financing the education of their children. We increased the number of beneficiaries gradually and currently the number is around 850. On every 3rd Sunday of the month, my wife and I go to ensure the distribution of groceries is happening properly.

During summers, when we were giving small bisleri bottles to all the families, I saw one woman wasn’t drinking water. When I asked her about the reason, she mentioned that her child has never tasted bisleri water and she would want her child first to drink water from the bottle.

Such humbling incidents really make me wonder that there are so many needy people in the country. We spend Rs. 2,000 on a weekend over a dinner or anywhere, but remember, the same Rs. 2,000 can feed a family of 3-4 easily if used properly.

My humble request to all of you would be to start giving back, albeit it is a small amount. Your small act of kindness can save the lives of others!

The first 25 years are for learning, the next 25 years are for earning, and the years thereafter are for returning! My time of returning back is now going on, though I have a long way to go :)
