At a past organization, when a candidate stated her salary expectation was $80,000, I said nope, too low, and wrote down $105,000 instead. 💸

I knew what the other people in the role earned, and I ensured she got the same.

Statistically, most women and Professionals of Color do not ask for the same salary as other candidates in the same roles. Not on my watch, honey!

I even gave her some tips on how to ace the interview and negotiate her salary in the future.

I mean, I gave her a whole salary upgrade package.

The hiring manager would have been pissed if he found out, but honestly, I'd do it all again in a heartbeat! 😂

If you aren't willing to go the extra mile for pay equity, then you should NOT be in Recruitment or People Operations!

So, let's stop talking about pay equity and start making it happen.

And if you need help with that, you know who to call - me, the Salary Fairy!

At a previous job, a candidate mentioned a $80,000 salary expectation. I promptly rejected that, replacing it with $105,000, aligning it with what others in the same role earned.

I not only upgraded her salary but also provided tips for acing interviews and negotiating pay in the future—basically, a free comprehensive career coaching session.

Despite potential backlash from the hiring manager, I'd do it again without hesitation!

In roles like Recruitment or People Operations, you're in the wrong field if you're not committed to transparency and pay equity.

Special shoutout to my former toxic bosses and peers throughout my career that told me to “tone it down,” “assimilate” or that I was “too vocal for my own good.”

I didn’t take one ounce of your feedback or targeted suggestions. I’m louder and more vocal than I’ve ever been!

Also please stop sliding in my DMs congratulating me on all my success - it’s not because of you, it’s in spite of you! 👊🏾
