Today is my grandmother’s 98th birthday! I often talk about her in my speeches because she is truly an inspiration.

She taught elementary school for 46 years in Broward County, Florida (well into her 70’s!) and showed me the importance of education. She handed down her belief that all people can live meaningful lives and be contributing, productive citizens in our community and society.

My grandmother is my biggest supporter and she helped me become the man, father, and leader I am today. Here’s to her and all of the women like her.

We have to do what President Clinton said at today's #SHRM23 Annual Conference & Expo: embrace our common humanity over our individual interests. We can't embrace “the policies of either/or.“

We have to do both. This is what it's all about — at work, and in our lives.

And let's be clear about something, these aren't just empty words.

President Clinton talked about signing the “Family and Medical Leave Act“ as the FIRST major piece of legislation of his presidency.

So what's the future of work? It's not about lowering the standards for employment, it's about lowering the barriers for employment.
