You were lied to.

(By your parents, mentors, teachers, and coaches)

The classic script:

• Do well in school
• Go to a fancy college
• Compete and do well there
• Get a high-paying job after school
• Work your ass off and climb the ladder
• Sacrifice family for the illustrious promotion

Only then – will you be happy...

Of course, you know reading this – that's not always the case.

You did what they said would bring you happiness:

• You had the perfect plan
• You executed it perfectly

And it sucks.

Now you go back to the drawing board and refine the plan:

• Maybe it's the wrong industry?
• Maybe your boss is the problem?
• Maybe the next promotion will be it?

I'm here to tell you to throw out the plan.

That's the way the world is moving.

I know several 6 & 7 figure creators:

• One used to be a dentist
• One used to live in a trailer
• One used to be a music teacher
• One used to be a C-Suite Executive

The one thing they have in common?

They all told me,

“Starting without a plan is 1000X more effective than waiting for the plan to be absolutely perfect.“

So go out and mess around.

See where it takes you.

$20k/mo as a solopreneur

(And each step you need to achieve it):

I’ve been helping solopreneurs grow their businesses for years.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see?

Thinking they need a huge audience to hit their income goals.

The truth: You don’t need a huge audience.

You just need huge action.

Here’s a breakdown of how you can build a $20k/mo business in 2025:

Let’s assume:

• Your offer is $2,500 (modest for high-ticket)
• You close at 1.4% (very modest for offer conversions)

If you message 20 people a day:

• That’s 140 people a week
• Multiplied by 52 weeks
• Gives you 7,280 msgs

With a 1.4% conversion rate, you’d close 101 clients a year.

101 x $2,500 = $254,800/year.

Again... that's considering you were modest with outreach and conversions.

Break that down monthly, and you’re making $20,833.

(yes... I'm rounding for all you math nerds out there...)

Most people think they need:

• A huge audience
• To go viral with their content
• Or an INSANE amount of luck

But be honest.

You didn’t become a solopreneur to rely on luck.

You became one to take control of your income.

You can:
• Message 20 people a day
• Pitch a $2,500 offer
• Close just 2%

And build the business (and life) of your dreams.

It’s not about having a big audience.

It’s about taking big action.

This drives me crazy...

Everyone wants to be a creator but nobody wants to:

Create in the dark.

Here's your reality check...

Month 1-6 of posting?

Crickets.

• Your brilliant insights? 2 likes.
• Your vulnerability posts? Your mom commented.
• Your how-to content? Tumbleweeds.

Zero traction.
Zero feedback.
Zero proof this is working.

And this is where 95% tap out.

Because they thought content creation was like a vending machine:

Put content in → get engagement out.

But it's not.

It's like planting a garden in winter.

You water dead-looking soil for months.
Nothing visible happens.
Your neighbors think you're crazy.

Then spring hits.

And everything explodes at once.

Same with content.

The creators who make it?

They're not the most talented
They're not the most creative
They're not the most strategic

They're just the ones who kept posting when posting felt pointless.

Who built their voice in silence
Who refined their message without applause
Who trusted the process when the process felt broken

The breakthrough isn't in month 1.

It's in month 7.

After everyone else quits.

A strange thing happens when you raise your prices.

(and it's not what most people expect)

When I went from $500 → $5,000, my clients got:

• More responsive
• More committed
• More successful

Why?

Because premium pricing changes behavior on both sides.

Yours:

• You take it more seriously
• You deliver better results
• You attract better clients

Theirs:

• They show up prepared
• They do the work
• They implement faster

Here's what I've learned:

Low prices create tire kickers, time wasters, and result avoiders.

Premium prices create decision makers, action takers, and result achievers.

The difference isn't the money.

It's the commitment.

When someone invests $5,000, they're not just buying your service—they're buying their own transformation.

They show up differently.
They take it seriously.
They get results.

When someone pays $500, they treat it like $500.

Optional. Casual. Easy to ignore.

So stop apologizing for charging what you're worth.

Start delivering more than they expect.

Because the real fear shouldn't be:

"What if they pay?"

It should be:

"What if I underdeliver?"

Charge premium.

Deliver premium.

Sleep well.

That's the formula.

Many of you won't see this until it's too late...

I'm talking about:

The "safe" path.

College
Corporate job
Climb the ladder
Save for retirement

(I tried to make that last line start with "C" too but couldn't think of anything....)

Everyone calls it "safe."

I call it the most dangerous gamble in human history.

Here's why:

The danger is invisible for decades.

You think you're building security
You're actually building dependency

On your company's survival
On your industry's relevance
On the economy's stability
On your boss's mood

But you won't know this until year 15.
Or 25.
Or when the pink slip arrives.

By then, you've:

• Specialized in skills that don't transfer
• Built lifestyle inflation around a single income
• Lost the risk tolerance to start over
• Convinced yourself this was "smart"

The "risky" path of entrepreneurship?

The danger is front-loaded.

You see it coming
You prepare for failure
You develop portable skills
You build multiple income streams

Every setback teaches you something
Every pivot makes you stronger
Every client diversifies your risk

The entrepreneur fails fast and cheap
The employee fails slow and expensive

Both paths have risk.

One path hides it
One path teaches you to manage it

You don’t actually want what most “lifestyle entrepreneurs” are selling.

Here’s what you’re really after...

Passive income sounds great—until you realize you don’t want to do "nothing."

You just want to stop doing work that feels pointless.

• You want your calendar back
• You want your ideas to matter
• You want to do meaningful work

Without asking permission from someone who calls himself a “product guy” and wears Allbirds to Zoom calls.

What you actually want is meaningful control:

• Control over your time
• Control over your income
• Control over how you show up
• Control over the kind of work you say yes (and no) to

Without justifying it to a team of middle managers

Not “freedom” as marketed in the highlight reels.

Freedom as in:

I’m doing:

• The right work
• For the right people
• In a way that fits my life

And it doesn’t require a 4-hour workweek, a passive product, or a perfectly branded empire.

It requires:

• Content that attracts the right people
• A clear offer that solves a real problem
• A message that reflects what you believe
• Conversations that convert without convincing

You don’t need to escape work.

You need to build something that makes work worth doing.

If this showed up in your feed, you're probably scrolling for advice. Here's the only piece that matters:

Stop investing in what you know

Start investing in who you are

I'm convinced the best ROI you'll ever get isn't from another course, certification, or skill.

It's from becoming someone people genuinely want to work with.

I see creators obsessing over:

• The latest AI tools
• New marketing frameworks
• Advanced funnel strategies
• Complex automation systems

While completely ignoring:

• Whether they're pleasant to work with
• Whether they make good on promises
• If they communicate clearly
• How they handle problems

Here's what happened when I figured this out:

I stopped trying to be the smartest person in the room.
I started trying to be the most reliable.

I stopped overselling my capabilities.
I started under-promising and over-delivering.

I stopped talking about myself.
I started making conversations about them.

The result?

More leads than I could handle
Higher rates without negotiation
Clients who became advocates
A business that felt sustainable

What separates you is how you make people feel when they work with you.

• Do you make their life easier or harder?
• Do you solve problems or create them?
• Do you take ownership or make excuses?
• Do you show up consistently or when it's convenient?

Every email you send is an investment.
Every phone call you take is an investment.
Every deadline you meet is an investment.

In becoming someone people trust.
Someone they recommend.
Someone they come back to.

That's not taught in masterclasses.
That's built one interaction at a time.

The number one reason people fail to build a creator business:

It has nothing to do with:

• Whether they're blue-collar or white-collar
• Whether they're college-educated or not
• How much money they started with
• If they're Gen X, Y, Z, or a Boomer
• Having special writing talents
• Their socioeconomic status
• Who their parents were
• Where they grew up
• How smart they are
• Their background

Seriously...

The biggest reason people don't build a successful creator business is:

• They aren't confident in what they already have

Trust me. I know many multi-six-figure creators:

• One used to be a dentist
• One used to live in a trailer park
• One used to work for Goldman Sachs
• One used to be a high school music teacher

And me?

I used to be a waiter in restaurants.

What's the common thread between all of us?

We chose to:

• Find something we were passionate about
• Push ourselves to learn more about it than others
• Push ourselves further to learn how to write about it

And then we shared what we found with the world.

Did we "make it" right away?

Hell no.

It took time and the willingness to make mistakes.

It took investing in ourselves and seeking help.

But trust me – if a former waiter, dentist, trailer park resident, and music teacher (not sure about the Goldman employee) can do this.

So can you.

Because trust me when I say this:

Stop selling yourself short...

People will pay to know what you know.

This is going to blow your f*cking mind...

It's 3 years from now and you're:

Checking your phone over morning coffee.

• 7 unread messages from potential clients
• 3 referrals from past customers
• 2 podcast interview requests
• 30 days of content scheduled

Your calendar is booked solid with work you actually want to do—at rates that make your former corporate salary look like pocket change.

Here's what made the difference:

You talked about your work.

Every. Single. Day.

For three straight years.

Because invisible people don't get paid.

No matter how:

• Brilliant they are
• Value they create
• Desperately the market needs what they offer

If you're not visible, you don't exist.

But visibility isn't about viral posts or massive audiences.

It starts with one thing:

𝗔 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿.

Everything flows from there.

• The right content that showcases your thinking
• Videos that demonstrate your competency
• Direct messages that start conversations
• Emails that build relationships

Your expertise is worthless if no one knows about it.

Your insights are invisible if you keep them to yourself.

Your potential clients are working with someone else—someone who showed up consistently.

The compound effect of daily visibility isn't magic.

It's mathematics.

One post. One video. One email. One conversation.

Multiplied by 1,095 days.

That's how quiet professionals become industry authorities.

That's how "best kept secrets" become household names.

Start today.

Show your work.
Share your thinking.
Speak your truth.

Because 3 years from now, you'll either be exactly where you are today

Or exactly where you want to be.

This realization hit me like a truck...

Everything changes when you realize:

You're not selling a service.

You're selling time.

Their time saved
Their time reclaimed
Their time freed up for things that matter

When I was selling wine, I learned this fast.

The customer ordering the $200 bottle wasn't paying for grape juice.

They were paying for:

• Time not spent researching wines
• Time not spent making the wrong choice
• Time enjoying the perfect pairing instead of regret

Same principle applies to your business.

Your client isn't buying your coaching program.

They're buying:

• 6 months not wasted on trial and error
• Years not spent figuring it out alone
• Time enjoying their transformation instead of struggling

This shift changes everything.

Instead of selling features and benefits....

You're selling their most precious resource back to them.

Instead of competing on price.....

You're demonstrating the cost of NOT investing.

What's 6 more months of confusion worth?
What's another year spinning your wheels worth?
What's missing out on your breakthrough worth?

Because time is the only thing they can never get back.

And you're in the business of giving it to them.

This will break 90% of you reading this.

The hardest part of creating something great isn't:

The strategy
The systems
The offers

It's showing up every day when:

• Your email list is 12 people
• Your posts get zero comments
• Your sales calls result in "maybe later"
• Your content feels like shouting into the void
• Your bank account doesn't reflect your effort

Most solopreneurs tap out here.

Because they think success looks like immediate applause.

It doesn't.

Success looks like:

• Sending email #200 to a tiny list
• Making offer #10 that gets crickets
• Writing post #150 that gets ignored
• Recording video #20 that nobody watches

And doing it anyway.

Because that "invisible" work?

It's building something.

• Your voice gets clearer
• Your message gets sharper
• Your offers get tighter
• Your confidence gets stronger

Every "failed" post is data.
Every ignored email teaches you something.
Every rejected offer brings you closer to the one that hits.

The creators who win?

Keep performing.

Because they know the audience is coming.

Just not today.

So here's your choice:

Build in the dark and wait for the light.

Or quit because nobody's clapping yet.

Most choose option two.

That's why option one works.

The most popular question I get asked.

And as much as I wanna roll my eyes – I get it...

"Jon – how much of my 'secret sauce' should I share in my content?"

Now to my answer...

"Literally all of it."

Why?

Let me paint you a picture...

Pretend you're going to watch a football game.

You have a few options:

You can watch a football game for:

• $0 at home
• $50 at the bar
• $250 in the bleachers
• $750 in a fancy luxury suite
• $5000 on the field near the players

In other words –

People don't pay for information.

They pay for:

• Access
• Experience
• Implementation

I've seen too many businesses get destroyed because creators held back.

Procrastination kills more businesses than plagiarism ever will.

Share literally everything.

(Bear down 🐻⬇️ and F'The Packers always, by the way...)

99% of people will disagree with me on this:

But...

Rejection is the best business metric you're not tracking.

Here's what nobody tells you:

Your first:

• 50 offers will get rejected.
• 100 posts will disappear into the void.
• 20 sales calls will end with "we'll think about it."

This isn't failure.

It's data collection.

Most creators treat rejection like a personal attack.

They get one "no" and spiral into imposter syndrome.

They post content that gets 3 likes and assume they're bad at this.

But the creators making $10K+/month?

They collect rejections like baseball cards.

Because every "no" tells them:

• Their offer doesn't solve the right problem
• They're talking to the wrong person
• Their message isn't clear enough
• Their timing is off

Rejection isn't defeat.

It's expensive market research you're getting for free.

The creators with thin skin quit after rejection #3.

The ones with thick wallets get excited about rejection #300.

Because they know it's bringing them closer to the "yes" that matters.

One problem.
One person.
One offer.

If your business isn't growing, one of those is unclear.

Usually all three.

But you'll only figure that out by collecting enough data.

And data comes disguised as rejection.

The biggest lie people tell themselves: "I don't have time."

Meanwhile, they spend 40 hours a week:

• Writing the same email twice
• Answering the same question 12 times
• Jumping on calls that could be a Loom video

Here's what I learned after hitting $10K months:

You don't need more time.

You need more leverage.

• Schedule a month of content? 4 hours.
• Speed up asset creation with AI? 2 hours max.
• Automate your entire sales funnel? One weekend.
• Deliver your service asynchronously? Game changer.

The tools exist.
The leverage exists.
The frameworks exist.

You're just not using it.

Because building systems feels like work that doesn't pay immediately.

But here's the truth:

Every hour you spend creating leverage
gives you 10 hours back.

Every system you build
works while you sleep.

Every process you document
becomes a profit multiplier.

Stop trading time for money.

Start building systems that work without you.

Two creators walked into my DMs last week:

The first one:

• $15k monthly revenue
• Thriving community

The second one:

• $5k monthly revenue
• A ton of post impressions

The difference?

One built a stage.
One built a home.

Stages are for performance.
Homes are for connection.

Stages have spectators.
Homes have family.

Here's what most miss:

Building community isn't about:

• Fancy tactics
• Growth hacks
• Viral hooks

It's about:

• Showing up consistently
• Speaking to real problems
• Creating authority in your space

Because here's the truth:

An audience follows your content.
A community follows your lead.

(Read that again...)

An audience wants entertainment.
A community wants transformation.

(Seriously... read that again...)

Stop obsessing over follower count.
Start focusing on connection count.

Because revenue comes from relationships,
not reach.
Post image by Jon Brosio
If you've been told to "find your niche" and felt paralyzed, this will change everything...

Most creators think a niche is:

• An industry ("fitness")
• A platform ("LinkedIn creators")
• A demographic ("millennial women")

That's not a niche.

That's a category.

A $100k niche is a group with a problem.

Not just any problem.

A problem that:

• They can't solve alone
• Keeps them up at night
• Costs them money daily
• They'll pay premium to fix

When you speak to the problem, the right people immediately think:

• "Holy ravioli, that's me."
• "How did they know?"
• "I need this now."

My student learned this the hard way...

For months, he called himself a "career coach for programmers"

Crickets.

Then she shifted:

"I help programmers stuck in application hell get recruiters to reach out to them with their dream job and salary in hand"

Same skills. Same person.
Completely different response.

6 new clients within the first month working together...

Because he stopped describing what he did and started describing the hell her clients were living in.

The magic isn't in the solution.
It's in how precisely you can articulate the problem.

Most creators get this backwards...

Here's how to find your $100k niche:

1. List every problem you've personally solved
2. Identify which ones people regularly ask you about
3. Find the intersection of "urgent" and "expensive"
4. Test your language with real humans

Don't ask

"What's my niche?"

Ask

"Whose problem am I uniquely positioned to solve?"

The money follows the problem.

The bigger the problem, the bigger the opportunity.

Stop being a generalist hoping someone needs everything.

Start being the specialist people desperately need for one thing.
Post image by Jon Brosio
Here's what nobody tells you about pricing:

Price isn't about the number. It's about the

Transformation.

• $5k for a course that saves you 5 years? Cheap
• $10 for a book that wastes 5 hours? Expensive
• $50k to transform someone's business?

Bargain of a lifetime...

When I first started coaching, I charged $500/month.

I was scared.

I thought I was being "reasonable."

I was worried about what people would think.

But here's the truth…

I was doing my clients a disservice.

Because when you undercharge, you attract people who aren't serious.

• They don't implement.
• They don't transform.
• They just… consume.

Now?

I work with whale clients who pay premium prices.

And you know what changed?

Not the transformation I deliver. That was always there.

What changed was my positioning.

My clarity.
My confidence in the outcome.

The bigger the transformation, the smaller the price feels.

Think about it:

If you're genuinely taking someone from $0 to $10K/month… what's that worth?

If you're compressing 5 years of trial and error into 12 weeks of focused implementation… what's that worth?

Here's what's interesting:

You can also give people steps to ascend.

I just added $5K in MRR by creating a low-tier recurring option.

Same program. Different entry point.

Some people need to start smaller and work their way up.

That's fine.

Meet them where they're at.
Then ascend them.

But here's the key—whether they start at $75/week or $400/week:

• Your offer must be crystal clear
• You must position for the right client
• The transformation must be undeniable

When those align?

Price becomes irrelevant.

Your high-ticket offer isn't expensive.

It's the best investment they'll ever make.

Everyone's looking for a complex marketing funnel.

Meanwhile...

The richest solo creators and coaches I know use one step that leads to another:

Reader → Lead → Customer → Recurring → High-ticket

That's it.

No fancy automation.
No 47-step sequences.
No AI-powered chatbots.

Just crystal clear progression:

I call it One Step Marketing™

It's what I use for my own multi-six figure solo business.

And what I teach my clients:

• Reader finds your content (content)
• Lead opts in for deeper value (free)
• Customer buys entry offer ($)
• Returns for recurring solution ($$)
• Graduates to premium service ($$$)

But here's what makes it work:

Each step solves ONE problem.
Leads to ONE outcome.
Makes ONE promise.

(Hence the name "One Step Marketing™")

The magic isn't in complexity.

It's in clarity.

Knowing exactly:

• Who you serve
• What they need
• How you help
• What's next

That's how you build $10k months.

And $20k

And $30k...

Not by adding more steps.

By making each step count.

Few people will agree with me on this…

But I believe most AI tools are only good at one thing:

Making work look done.

• The research looks thorough.
• The deck looks polished.
• The copy looks clean.

Until someone actually uses it.

Then you realize…

You still spent two hours fixing what the AI "finished."

You just did it after the fact instead of before.

Picture this…

You use AI to put together your offer page.

The structure looks solid.
The copy looks clean.

But the positioning is generic.

The hook doesn't actually speak to your buyer.

And the promise buried on line four should've been the headline.

You don't find out until the offer goes live and nobody converts.

That's not a speed problem.

That's a slop problem.

And for high-stakes work - your offer, your content, your client-facing copy - slop has a real cost.

Here's what I've noticed watching this play out with coaches and service providers:

The goal was never to get work done fast. It was to get work done right.

Speed is only valuable when the output is actually usable.
That's the gap most AI tools ignore.

And honestly?

It's the gap that keeps showing up.

A tool launched on Product Hunt today that I think is worth a look if this resonates.

It's called Tendem - built by the team behind human-in-the-loop QA for frontier AI labs.

The model is straightforward: AI handles the volume, a vetted human expert finishes the work.

What comes back is complete, accurate, and ready to use.

Starts at $3 per task.

(This is a paid partnership — but I only share tools I'd actually use myself)
