A #job will help you make money but a #career will help you find your purpose.

Itโ€™s been said that #passion is the difference between having a job or having a career.

So why do so many people struggle to find theirs?

THE ANSWER:ย
People spend more time avoiding life, instead of facing it head-on.

CONSIDER THIS:
Life spins with unexpected changes every day; and these changes provide you the opportunity and experience for growth. These experiences will either give you what you want or it will teach you what you donโ€™t.

Either way, itโ€™s a win-win.

IN THE END:ย
If you donโ€™t sacrifice for what you want,
what you want will be the sacrifice.

Hereโ€™s the one thing that derails all #leaders from success.

โ€œLeadership Fragilityโ€

A term used to refer to a leader's willingness to be #vulnerable. So what prevents a leader from being vulnerable?

Ego.
And whatโ€™s on the other side of the Ego?

- Connection.ย
- Collaboration.
- Inclusion.

So how do you get there?
๐•๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.

When it comes to #leadership, vulnerability is often viewed as a weakness for leaders.ย Leaders feel the constant pressure to perform at a higher level than others due to their status leaving them guarded, self-protected and disconnected from others.

๐‡๐„๐‘๐„โ€™๐’ ๐–๐‡๐˜ ๐ˆ๐“ ๐Œ๐€๐“๐“๐„๐‘๐’:

Leadership vulnerabilityย can accelerate the spark to innovate and trust among team members, with benefits that cascade into #performance, engagement, satisfaction and retention. Leaders with high #EQ recognize vulnerability as a powerful tool.

๐Œ๐˜ ๐๐„๐‘๐’๐๐„๐‚๐“๐ˆ๐•๐„:

I am not suggesting that every leader must empathize, sympathize, and open up to everyone about everything but Brenรฉ Brown (Brenรฉ Brown Education and Research Group) one of the foremost experts on this topic argues that vulnerability is โ€˜engaging in life, being all in, dedicating yourself to something.โ€™

๐‡๐Ž๐– ๐“๐Ž ๐†๐„๐“ ๐’๐“๐€๐‘๐“๐„๐ƒ:

Confronting your own ego is a great starting point for getting in touch with your own vulnerability. Notice what triggers you and takes you out from being present. Next, I recommend, opening up about your challenges. Personal confessions can be powerful tools. You can use them to share vulnerable moments with your team, relate to them in meaningful ways, and importantly, develop trust. Learn to share without oversharing. Brenรฉ Brownโ€™s advice: โ€œVulnerability minus boundaries is not vulnerability.โ€ Said another way, practice highlighting the main points without delving into the details around why.

๐ˆ๐ ๐“๐‡๐„ ๐„๐๐ƒ: Being vulnerable doesnโ€™t make you weak, it allows you to show people your authentic self and invites them to do the same. Emotionally intelligent leaders recognize vulnerability as a powerful tool to garner greater support from their followers in addition to empowering and inspiring them.

When it comes to leadership, how important is #EQ?

They say the early bird gets the worm. But what if worms arenโ€™t your thing?

The debate around what #time people wake up and how #successful they are in life is as old as the moon landing debate.

Should you care that Apple CEO @Tim Cook or former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi wakes up at 4am or that Michelle Obama has a 4:30am workout?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Harvard University Biologist Christoph Randlerย discovered that early risers are more proactive. Aย University of Toronto study, further stated that morning people reported higher levels of #happiness.

Need more?
Consider this.

With all the science out there to back up the connection between a structured morning routine and the level of #success one may achieve, THE SHORT VERSION IS: you arenโ€™t Tim, Indra or Michelle.

As a #coach, here is what I offer up:

Focus on you and focus less on the time you get up and more on the quality of sleep. There is ample research that boldly states the connection between sleep deficiency and cognitive #performance.

- Figure out how much sleep โ€œyour bodyโ€ needs
- Listen to your body
- Create a system that supports your sleep goals

Thereโ€™s no gold star for getting up at 4am only to produce 50% of what you are capable of and then suffer throughout the day.

When a #relationship runs on empty, it's like driving a car without fuel. You can only go so far before you come to a complete stop.

Here are 8 signs your relationship has hit a dead end:

BREAKDOWN IN #COMMUNICATION: If you or your partner are no longer interested in discussing important issues or avoiding talking about problems, it can be a sign of trouble.

LACK OF EMOTIONAL #CONNECTION: When emotional intimacy is fading, it's challenging to rebuild the connection, and it often leads to further emotional distance.

NEGATIVE #INTERACTIONS: Criticism, defensiveness, and contempt are all negative interaction patterns that can damage to a relationship.

NO FUTURE #PLANS: When couples stop planning for the future, it can be a sign that they have given up on the relationship or are no longer invested in it.

UNRESOLVED #ISSUES: If you and your partner have unresolved issues that keep resurfacing, giving the relationship a second chance may only prolong the inevitable and prevent you from moving on.

LOSS OF #TRUST: If your partner has betrayed your trust, it may be a sign that the relationship is no longer salvageable.

LACK OF #EFFORT: If one partner is no longer willing to put in the effort, it may be a sign that the relationship has hit a dead end and is not worth a second chance.

BEHAVIOR IS #TOXIC: If your partner exhibits toxic behavior, such as verbal or physical abuse, giving the relationship a second chance, in this case, could be dangerous and detrimental to your well-being.

IN SHORT: When a relationship is at a dead end, it's important to acknowledge that it's not a failure. Rather, it's an opportunity for growth and learning.

Donโ€™t let not knowing how it will end keep you from starting today.

KEEP GOING.

It's time to get your priorities straight.

Twenty years from now it wonโ€™t really matter what shoes you wore today, how your hair looked, or what brand of clothes you bought. What will matter is how you #lived and #loved, what you #learned, and how you applied this #knowledge.

So forget about impressing everyone else.ย
Be real instead.

If you want to impress someone, impress yourself by making progress on something youโ€™re sincerely proud of.ย Itโ€™s truly amazing what you can accomplish in a day or weekend when you arenโ€™t constantly worried about what everyone else in the world thinks.

KEEP GOING.

Enjoy your weekend.

#Visionboards are visual reminders that compel attention. Thatโ€™s just for starters. Your attention is good; your focus is better.

According to science, #focus is an undeniable multiplier when setting and achieving goals.

HERE'S WHY IT MATTERS:

The power of a #visionboard lies in its ability to promote self-awareness and self-reflect on what is important to you. It may also help you imagine what a positive future could look like. Imagining a positive future is a helpful way to increase positive emotions and optimism and create opportunities and increase the chances of #success.

Itโ€™s not a mystery.

Based on science. Maintaining focus with deliberate intention is an effective motivator for success. International Olympic Committee โ€“ IOC athletes have been using it for decades to improve their performance. According to Psychology Today, brain studies now reveal that thoughts produce the exact mental instructions as actions.

HERE'S HOW TO BEGIN: Select images and content that illustrate where you want to be, your goal, and the endgame. What works for me and what I share with clients is to create boards focused on areas of importance: career, money, love, health, and travel as examples.

The power of a #visionboard lie in its ability to strengthen your drive and behaviors that can increase your opportunities to actualize future possibilities for success.

Itโ€™s the intentional #focus with purpose.

๐๐”๐„๐’๐“๐ˆ๐Ž๐:ย
How do you find out if someone is capable of being a #leader?

๐€๐๐’๐–๐„๐‘:
Give them some responsibility and see what they do with it.

๐‚๐Ž๐๐’๐ˆ๐ƒ๐„๐‘ ๐“๐‡๐ˆ๐’:

There is a myriad of diagnostic tests, profiles, evaluations, and assessments that offer insights into #leadership ability, or a lack thereof. The challenge with many of these tools is that are overly analytical, very theoretical, and subject to #bias.

Finding, grooming, electing or choosing #leaders or people for leadership roles is not an exact science and even with all the tools that exist โ€“ sometimes it comes down to more basic observation than online assessment.

Lacks ๐‚๐‡๐€๐‘๐€๐‚๐“๐„๐‘:
A leader who lacks #character or #integrity will not last over time. It doesnโ€™t matter how intelligent, persuasive, or charismatic a person is, if they are prone to rationalizing unethical behavior or looking the other way, they will eventually fall prey to their own undoing. Modeling this behavior is toxic.

Lacks ๐‡๐”๐Œ๐ˆ๐‹๐ˆ๐“๐˜:
A #selfless leader is a powerful leader and one who empowers their team and the people around them. If a leader doesnโ€™t understand the concept of โ€œservice above selfโ€ they will not build the #trust, confidence, and loyalty of those they lead. Simply put; if a leader receives a vote of non-confidence from their peopleโ€ฆgame over.

Lacks ๐๐„๐‘๐…๐Ž๐‘๐Œ๐€๐๐‚๐„:
Leaders are expected to fulfillย certain measures. While past #performance is not always a certain indicator of future events, it is something that should not be overlooked. Someone who has consistently experienced success in leadership roles has a much better chance of #success than someone who has not. Itโ€™s important to remember unproven leaders come with a high-risk premium but that doesnโ€™t mean they should be counted out. In fact, it may mean they will require more resources in supporting their development.

Lacks ๐‚๐Ž๐Œ๐Œ๐”๐๐ˆ๐‚๐€๐“๐ˆ๐Ž๐ ๐’๐Š๐ˆ๐‹๐‹๐’:
Great leaders can #communicate effectively across mediums, constituencies, and environments. They are active #listeners, fluid thinkers, and know when to dial it up, down, or off. Remember that this IS a skill to be honed and developed over time.

The Link Between Honesty and Loyalty: Building #Trust as a Leader

Expecting loyalty without #honesty is a recipe for disappointment. As an executive leadership #coach, I emphasize the importance of cultivating an environment where honesty and trust thrive hand in hand.

True loyalty is born from open and honest #communication. When leaders prioritize creating a #culture of transparency, they build the foundation for trust and commitment to flourish. Relationships deepen through genuine honesty, enabling teams to collaborate effectively and achieve remarkable results.

โ–ถ To foster honesty and loyalty:

โœ… #Rolemodel (embody it): Demonstrate honesty and transparency in your actions and communication. Set the standard for integrity and create an environment where openness is celebrated.

โœ… #Communication (cultivate it): Create spaces for honest conversations, where individuals feel safe to express their thoughts and concerns without fear of judgment or repercussion.

โœ… #Feedback (encourage it): Actively seek feedback from your team and listen attentively. Embrace constructive criticism as an opportunity for growth and improvement, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

โœ… #Expectation (set it): Set clear expectations around honesty and integrity, emphasizing their importance in maintaining a cohesive and high-performing team.

โœ… #Trust (build it): Trust is earned over time through consistent actions and open communication. Follow through on commitments, address concerns promptly, and be authentic in your interactions.

๐Ÿš€ FACT: By prioritizing honesty, you create an environment that encourages loyalty to flourish naturally. Genuine dedication comes from individuals who trust that their voices are heard, opinions are valued, and that honesty is embraced.

โ–ถ Remember, as leaders, foster a culture where honesty is the bedrock of trust, and loyalty will follow organically.

The Value of #SelfWorth: Why You Should Reevaluate Your Price ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ฐ

In a world constantly evolving, so should your perception of self-worth. Remember, your worth isn't static; it's dynamic, just like your personal and professional growth.

โ–ถ Reevaluating your value empowers you to:

โœ… Reflect on #Growth: As you gain new skills and knowledge, your value increases. Repricing reflects your journey.

โœ… Respect Your #Time: Recognize the value of your time and expertise. Charging what you're worth respects your commitments and boundaries.

โœ… Set #Boundaries: It's okay to say 'no' when something doesn't align with your true value. Adjusting your price helps establish healthy boundaries.

โ–ถ How to Do It:

๐Ÿ’ก Self Assessment: Regularly assess your skills, #experience, and the unique value you bring to the table.

๐Ÿ’ก Market Research: Understand industry standards and what peers with similar #skills are charging.

๐Ÿ’ก Confidence: Believe in your worth. #Confidence in your abilities can justify your price tag.

๐Ÿ’ก Communication: Articulate your #value clearly when negotiating. Highlight the impact you can make.

๐Ÿ’ก Reevaluate Regularly: Don't be afraid to adjust your pricing as you grow and evolve in your #career.

Remember, by changing the price of what it costs to access you, you're not just investing in yourself but also setting the standard for how others perceive your true worth.

According to the World Economic Forum - #mindfulness is a MUST leadership skill.

It sounds so esoteric. More for the yoga studio than the boardroom.

Without understanding what #mindfulness is or how it worked, an introduction to a Jon Kabat-Zinn masterclass was an eye-opener for me.

It was a life-altering experience that made me a better #leader, #coach, husband, and #parent. Of all the leadership skills I have learned, practiced, and taught, #mindfulness is the salt that enhances all the other leadership skills.

โ€‹โ€‹In the simplest of definitions and directions, I want to share my insight into what mindfulness is, the value it presents, and a quick way to get started.

Mindfulness, at its core, is about being consciously present. Actively listening to what is being said and responding with #purpโ€‹โ€‹ose and thoughtfulness.

Science explains it like this:
We are of two minds, subconscious and conscious.

The SUBCONSCIOUS part of our minds, a complicated mix of emotions and experiences, is on autopilot, ready to inform our actions and/or reactions.

The CONSCIOUS - part of our minds has us focused on the present. Listening to what is being said, without bias or judgment, sets you up to make better decisions.
โ€‹โ€‹
How do you get there?

If you are a people #leader, I would say start by listening without bias or judgment. Focus on whatโ€™s being said, not what you think is being said. Allow your conscious mind to overrideย your subconscious mind. It takes repetition to build muscle. The more you practice, the stronger you get.

It not only works. Itโ€™s a game-changer.

Embrace the Power of Opening Up and Being #Loved (Yes Really) โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

As an executive #coach, I emphasize the importance of allowing yourself to open up and be loved by another. Embracing this #vulnerability can have a profound impact on your personal, professional growth and #leadership effectiveness.

In a world that often encourages masks and pretenses, encountering someone who shows you their #authentic colors can be a rare and precious gift.

When this happens, it's essential to resist the urge to repaint them. Authenticity is the foundation of genuine connections and #personalgrowth.

Trying to change or manipulate someone's true nature not only disrespects their individuality but also denies you the opportunity to fully appreciate and learn from their unique qualities.

Embracing someone's true colors means accepting them as they are, without #bias or the need for alteration. It means recognizing the value and authenticity they bring to the table. When we surround ourselves with individuals who are unapologetically themselves, we create an environment where trust, #empathy, and understanding can flourish.

When someone reveals their true colors, remember that you always have the power of #choice.ย Take a step back and evaluate if what you see aligns with your values and aspirations.

Authenticity is valuable, but it doesn't guarantee compatibility.

Embrace your #autonomy to decide if you appreciate their true self. By honoring your preferences, you pave the way for meaningful connections built on genuine admiration and shared values. Choose wisely and surround yourself with those who inspire and uplift you!
