I have 6 months now in cybersecurity and working remote.

The benefits of working remote.

I get to spend more time with the family.

I don't have to commute to the office. I was literally traveling over an hour on the train. I would be super tried because of the long commute.

I had hundreds of people who would come to me for help and I couldn't get any projects done while being in the office.

I don't like water cooler talk. I'm all about getting my work done with no distractions.

I'm still able to build strong relationships with my team members over zoom. Everyone has been super helpful.

I save money on food because I can always cook at home.

My work life balance has drastically improved.

This is my first remote job. I have been in an office for almost 9 years.

Find a company that has good work life balance.

If you need to be at an office. I would definitely recommend hybrid if you like being in a office.

For some new. Try to build your work experience at the office and slowly transition to a remote role in the future.

My IT journey goes like this.

I did 12 years in restaurant and almost 4 years in the NYPD auxiliary. I helped patrol the 5 boroughs of NY over 10 years ago. I got my food handler license and became the first youngest supervisor in restaurant.

When I wanted to learn about IT. I had no mentor and negative feedback on reddit. The only help I got was from veterans. I learned about the comptia a+ and landed my first job for the department of education.
I failed my comptia a+ twice in a row. I had imposter syndrome when I first worked IT.

It's okay to not know everything. No one knows everything. Stay humble and continue to learn. IT is always changing.

Had a call with HR. The feedback was positive. I'm waiting now.
