I WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU!

I’m all about going beyond the business side of things and truly trying to get to know people here on LinkedIn.

One of the most important aspects of a great LinkedIn strategy is building meaningful and valuable relationships.

So, I want to have a little fun and ask you all to share 3 random facts about yourself in the comments!

The only rule is that it can’t have anything to do with your career 😉

I’ll start:

1. I'm a sucker for a good pair of pajamas. Those of you who have had a video call with me would be shocked at how many times I’m actually wearing pajamas secretly.

2. I'm not me when I'm hungry... no really, I act like a raging a-hole.

3. I’m basically a walking music encyclopedia. I have a plethora of music knowledge. I don’t need to Google it. I just know. Go ahead. Test me 😉

Now your turn!

STOP COMPETING WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

Your competition isn’t other people.

Your real competition is your ego, your procrastination, the knowledge you neglect, and the negative behavior you nurture.

Compete against that.

Stop competing with other people.

“She makes more money than I do.”
“He’s got it all figured out and I don’t.”

Look, social media is great but it’s also notorious for only showing the pretty side of our lives.

That guy over there doesn’t have it all figured out, but neither do any of us, so it’s ok.

That girl over there might make more money than you, but who cares? Who says you can’t make more too?

Stop competing with others because not only are we all equal, but you will never, ever win that battle.

Instead, compete with yourself.

👉 Be better than you were yesterday.
👉 Learn to overcome your fears.
👉 Learn to let go of your negative behavior and replace it with positive.

So, when you feel like you need to compete with another;

Look in the mirror, and compete with yourself.

DEAR OLDER JOB SEEKERS

I see so many of you here on LinkedIn and wish that I could help you all.

Unfortunately I can’t, but what I can give you is encouragement and a whole lotta love ❤

I’m sure that most of you have been rejected, overlooked, and have spent countless hours trying to secure a job for yourself, but with no luck.

It can be discouraging and frustrating.

Add in ageism and being discriminated for your age, and it’s even worse.

Please remember:

When you’re rejected by a recruiter or hiring manager, try not to take it personal because they don’t know your inner attributes and the beautiful talented person that you are.

Don’t let the words or actions of others affect the way you view your self-worth and NEVER second guess your value.

Your job does not define you.
Your age does not define you.

YOU define you.

LINKEDIN IS BORING 😴

I recently read an article that someone wrote about LinkedIn and the first sentence said:

“Admittedly, LinkedIn might not be the most fun of all the social platforms out there, in fact, it can be quite boring…”

Wait...what?!

I don’t know about you guys, but I have a blast on LinkedIn!

👉 I get to create. There’s always a fun way to let my creativity shine and being able to do so makes my heart happy.

👉 I get to meet people from all over the world. Opening up your mind to different cultures and ways of living than yours really has a nice way of putting things into perspective.

👉 I get to learn! Learning is one of my favorite activities, and LinkedIn is full of ways to learn new things from all different walks of life. The potential to go to bed smarter than when you woke up is massive.

So, do I think LinkedIn is boring?

Absolutely not!
LinkedIn is my favorite place!

And I'm grateful to have found it.

What are your favorite things about LinkedIn?

I HATE TRYING NEW THINGS

Yeah, I said it.

Trying new things makes me nervous as hell.

I’ve always been shy and introverted so when I started creating videos for LinkedIn, I stepped so far outside of my comfort zone that I don’t even remember what it looks like anymore 🤣

It’s been an awesome journey.

BUT

In that new & exciting part of my life, I also got stuck inside of another comfort zone.

I won’t shoot my videos in any other way. I stand in front of my bookcase, and that’s it.

Even though I know my audience might be getting bored and would probably really like to see me in a different setting, I’m still not willing to get out of my comfort zone.

Shooting videos in a new way isn’t really that big of a deal-

But I feel like if you’re going to continue to grow, then you need to be willing to do new things, no matter how small.

So I’m curious to know:

Are any of you in a comfort zone right now?

If so, what is it?

ENGAGE WITH ME!

See what I did there?

You totally stopped to read this, you know you did 😉

There are so many posts floating around LinkedIn about the best ways to create content, but what about ENGAGING content that people actually WANT to engage with?

Here are my 3 tips!

👉 AUTHENTICITY:

Think strategically about the content that’s not only going to resonate most with your audience, but with yourself as well! You have to believe in what you’re saying, otherwise, no one else will either. Be true to you!

👉 VALUE:

Whether you’re dropping tips about sales or about LinkedIn like I am, always tie in some value! We’re not on this platform to write in our journals and talk to ourselves, we’re here to offer valuable insights, opinions & thoughts.

👉 SHOW SOME SKIN:

Just kidding! But do hop on video! (with only the appropriate amount of skin showing) Visual content is more likely to get engaged with than any other content on the internet.

People are visual creatures and a point will be made much more efficiently when we can SEE the point being made. Like this one! See? 😉

What would you add?

I was a Stay at Home Mom for many years.

Some might call that an “employment gap”, but in all reality, it’s 1000 jobs in one, and 24/7.

I was (and still am) a:

✅ Teacher
✅ Chef
✅ Event Planner
✅ Housekeeper
✅ Nurse
✅ Cheerleader
✅ Alarm Clock
✅ Conqueror of Monsters Under The Bed
✅ Tantrum & Meltdown Negotiator

and the list goes on.

Although it is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done in my life and I am forever grateful for it; it was really hard.

Now that I'm a work from home Mom, it's even tougher.

But I always remember that being a full time Mom is the one of the highest salaried jobs, since the payment is pure love ❤

If you were or are a stay at home parent:

👉 What’s the hardest thing?
👉 What’s the easiest thing?
👉 What have you learned from it?

Would love to hear your answers down in the comments!

DON'T LET YOUR STRUGGLES BURY YOU

A donkey fell into an old well. The farmer who owned him was frantic as he tried to figure out how to get the donkey out.

His neighbors convinced him that the donkey was too old to worry about, and that the most humane thing to do was bury him alive.

They each got a shovel and began to toss dirt into the well.

The donkey cried as he realized what was happening, but, instinctively, each time a shovel of dirt fell on his back he shook it off.

Then the donkey stopped crying and kept shaking off each shovel of dirt. As the dirt fell under his feet, he stomped on it, which made it turn hard.

When the farmer looked down in the well for one last look at his old friend, he was amazed!

He watched the donkey shake off the dirt that hit his back.

With each new load, he'd shake it off & take a step up on the new layer of dirt.

It wasn’t long before the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off, to the astonishment of the farmer and his neighbors.

▪️▪️ ▪️▪️ ▪️▪️

No matter what’s going on in your life right now, you don’t have to let it bury you.

Instead, use it as a stepping stone to raise you to the next level of where you want to be.

❤

What steps do you take to overcome challenges?
