I lost my authenticity.😔

Losing my job a few years ago told me things about myself that I never believed.

I was always confident.
Knew what I brought to the table.
Wasn’t afraid to challenge the status quo.
And always spoke my truth.

After losing my job…

I developed MAJOR imposter syndrome.
Started thinking, “maybe I’m not as good as I thought.”
And stopped trusting myself.

Later I learned that I was supposed to lose that job.

God had something much BETTER planned for my life.

At the time, I felt crushed and like I’d never get out of that rut.

If anyone would’ve told me that I’d be loving what I do today to this extreme, I would not have believed you.

I found myself again.

It took for me to start doing work that I ACTUALLY loved, and finally FORGIVE myself for my past “failure.”

If you’re doing work that you love, know that you are truly blessed🥰

If you’re NOT doing work that you love, know that you are blessed with the power to change that if you want to🙌🏽

It’s not over until God says so!

Dear LinkedIn Snob,

My LinkedIn is my Facebook, Instagram, or whatever I choose for it to be.

We already have to code switch in Corporate.

I will NOT code switch on MY personal time with MY personal brand.

Thanks,

Management
Managers & Recruiters,

There’s NO excuse for ghosting a candidate that you’ve had 2, 3+ meetings with.

Ghosting after an initial phone screen - OK.

That isn’t the worst thing in the world.

But after multiple meetings... there’s no valid excuse to ghost, or even send a generic rejection email, to a candidate that has invested so much time into your process.

Do better.
A better job with an increased salary is coming your way🔥 Comment “Amen” to start speaking it into existence!
I once worked in Sales where I earned $35K annually.

Each month, I had to meet a $30K sales goal.

Anything after $30K, I'd earn a 3% commission.

One month, I closed over $50K in sales for which I received a litte over 600 dollars in commissions.

I felt so disappointed.

At the time, I was broke - living paycheck to paycheck and eating Top Ramen for lunch.

I never would have thought later in life I’d become an entrepreneur and earn more in 1 month than I did in a whole year at a company.

I am not saying don’t work for a company.

I’m saying, don’t struggle working for a company that generates millions and billions of dollars and pays you pennies.

Start the brand!

When I lost my job, I thought my life was over.

When my landlord listed my condo for sale, I thought my life was over.

Within two weeks, I found my perfect home.

When I lost my best team member, I thought my life was over. Someone better came along.

When a relationship ended, I thought my life was over. I am not the same person that I was in those relationships - we would not be compatible today.

So many times that I can count, I thought it was the end of the world in the face of unwanted change or adversity.

But things always turn out for the better.

I used to take loss and disappointment super hard.

But when I get in that mode, I remember that God has NEVER left me hanging, and that it will always be okay.

In order for new seasons to begin, others have to end. I’ve learned to embrace this💜

Nearly 5 years ago when I was let go from my employer, I logged onto LinkedIn to start searching for a new job.

I stumbled on my first LinkedIn influencer’s post, and was so intrigued that I stopped job searching and started posting content on LinkedIn instead.

Since then, I’ve gone from

-Unemployed to a FT entrepreneur
-0 to ~ over a million in sales
-0 to ~ over 50M views

There are a few things that I’ve learned about building a 6-figure business on LinkedIn, and I want to share them with you.

→ Invest in quality brand visuals (website, graphics, the whole 9). People judge, and appearance does matter.

→ Optimize your profile for leads & sales. Have a clear positioning statement in your headline w/ a call-to-action, center your About section around your offer & results, and feature your sales links on your profile.

→ Focus on creating profitable content, not viral content, and the following will come. Have a thorough understanding of your ideal client, and share valuable content that solves their problems. (70% value, 30% personal content) Show up at least 4-5 times a week if you can.

→ There’s a lot of competition on LinkedIn; find a way to stand out. Think about HOW you do what you do differently, your WHY for doing what you do, and your personal story for how you’ve come to do what you do. Promote this.

→ Share results frequently - at least 1-2 times a week. Let your work speak for itself. Sell your transformation.

→ Create an amazing client experience. WOW your clients so much that they become your street marketing team, and refer clients to you.

→ Boost your profile visibility by engaging 2-3 posts daily. Also, reply to your comments and shares, and respond to personal messages.

→ People need to put a face/voice to a profile to develop trust. Go live or upload video content at least 1-2 times per month. Plus, this helps to drive speaking engagements.

Any Q’s?!

Not sure who can relate to this message today, but fight for your life - even if you don’t know what you’re fighting for.

The bad news is, nothing lasts forever.

But the good news is, nothing lasts forever😉

Ghosted you
Rejected you
Discriminated against you

Didn't deserve you anyway.

Stop thinking that it’s you, and start thinking that 𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪.

If I had only a few hundred dollars to my name and wanted to start making money online, here’s exactly what I’d do👇🏽

(As a quick note: Even with only a few hundred dollars to my name, I’d still want to look as bougie as possible🤣)

1-File an LLC with my Secretary of State’s office-do it myself and call the SOS for guidance if needed. Next, apply for a Federal EIN online. If I can’t afford the LLC filing fee, I’d start out as a sole proprietor with my free FEIN.

2-Purchase my business domain, and get my email mailbox set up which costs $20-$30 total.

3-Sign up with an email marketing provider so I can build an email list. Also to use its PRETTIEST landing page template haha to create my email opt-in page. If I could afford the monthly fee, I’d start out with a scalable platform, like ConvertKit or MailerLite. If not, I’d start with something free, like MailChimp and then switch later.

4-Get a subscription with a scheduling platform so I can start accepting consultations and offering paid coaching sessions.

4-Create my free social accounts and start sharing helpful advice 5/days per week for 4-6 weeks - of course, primarily, on LinkedIn😜

5-Put together an amazing free resource, using Canva, and share it with my audience to collect emails. (Canva has a free account, but of course you get more features with a $10/mo account.

6-Start inviting my audience to use my scheduling link to meet with me, and introducing myself to my followers, profile viewers, and post engagers in the DMs after several weeks of providing value.

7-Focus on closing a bigger coaching client, then use those funds to invest in coaching/mentoring, branding, and better systems.

When I first started out, I had lost my job after investing 5-figures in a Business Coach.

I didn’t have much income to invest in all the bells & whistles right away, but that didn’t stop me from making money in my business.

In fact, I landed my first 4-figure client before I even had a website!

Don’t let a lack of funds, knowledge, or courage stop you from getting started!

I don’t know who needs to hear this but, you are somebody’s GOALS😍

You may not be exactly where you want to be yet, but know that there are people who admire your progress.

Give yourself some more credit.
I’ve been:

-Fired
-Rejected
-Underestimated

But one thing I have not been:

-Stopped

They may can close a chapter, but they can’t write your story.

Because nothing or no one can stop you from achieving anything you put your mind to.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but someone is willing to pay top dollar for something that comes easy to you.

• Quit procrastinating.
• Quit overthinking it.
• Quit doubting yourself, and go full throttle with that brand!

My career has been one heck of a ride 🏄

2012: Relocated to sunny California for a dream opportunity.

2013: Ran back home to Chicago because the job didn’t work out in CA.

Still 2013: Landed a dream job in Chicago after just two weeks of returning home.

2013-2016: My career seemingly was going well.

2016: My manager lost her battle to cancer. She was replaced by an incompetent leader.

Then in 2016: I quit my boss without another job lined up.

Still 2016: Unexpectedly landed an amazing opportunity after just 3 weeks of unemployment.

Also 2016: Landed on an even dreamier job. Thought the grass was greener (more $$$) and quit a company that begged for me to stay.

2017: Got FIRED - after investing 10K in my then side business. Decided to just pursue my business full-time.

2017-2021: Built a multiple 6-figure brand.

2021: Decided that I no longer loved my business, and started all over with a new business. Turned down business for months, and sold out the seats for my new program on the first launch! (Thank God!)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in life: one day you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world, and the next you’re feeling so uncertain about life.

Life has its seasons.

Either way, never give up!
September will be a big month for you.
In the beginning years of my journey as a FT entrepreneur, I would periodically apply for jobs.

I got turned down for every role I applied for - not even making it past the first round of interviews.

Whereas in my professional career, I landed most jobs I applied for, and can only recall a handful of opportunities I got turned down for.

At the time, I called it rejection.

Now I call it GOD blocking what wasn't meant for me.
