Recruiting fail:

Rejecting someone... who's been working there a month 😅

Oops.

Speaking of hiring fails...

Ever hear about the Google resume experiment?

→ Managers were rejecting too many candidates
→ Someone found the managers' old resumes
→ Put them in front of the same managers

Plot twist: They rejected themselves! 🙈

Lesson? Hiring is SO important. Slow down. Pay attention to details.

The secret to attracting top talent?\n\nInvesting in your job description.\n\n\nHere are 4 things you should always do:\n\n1️⃣ SHOW why someone would be interested in your company\n\nDon't just say you're growing - prove it. Share exciting milestones, recent successes, and your company's mission. Let candidates feel the momentum and want to be part of it. Culture isn't just perks - it's how your team feels every Sunday night. Paint a picture that makes people think, “I NEED to be part of this.“\n\nThat's why almost all our Motion (Creative Analytics) JDs have our revenue growth, key metrics, and a clear picture of our future.\n\n\n2️⃣ Paint a picture of the day to day\n\nForget boring bullet points. Help candidates envision their impact. What problems will they solve? Who will they collaborate with? What tools will they use? Be specific and exciting. A great JD should give someone an in-depth POV of what their day weeks look like.\n\nBONUS: Create a 30/60/90 for your JDs.\n\nIt goes a really long way.\n\n\n\n3️⃣ Clearly state what you're looking for in a candidate\n\nList your must-haves upfront, but don't go overboard. A JD isn't a wishlist, it's a realistic outline of your ideal candidate. Focus on the non-negotiables. Are you after specific technical skills? Certain soft skills? A particular mindset? Be clear, but remember - the best candidates might have 70% of what you're asking for.\n\n\n4️⃣ Highlight comp and benefits\n\nYes, salary matters. Be transparent about your range if possible. But don't stop there. Showcase your full package - healthcare, retirement plans, professional development opportunities. If you're remote-friendly or offer flexible hours, shout it from the rooftops. Your perks are your secret weapons - flaunt them!\n\n\nRemember: Your JD sets the tone for the entire candidate experience. It's not just about filling a role - it's about starting a relationship. Make it count!\n\n\n👋 P.S. We're hiring at Motion!\n\nCheck out our careers page for details.\n\nGet your FREE ticket to Motion's Creative Strategy Summit 👉 https://bit.ly/3ywOYN9

Real talk: Job rejections are tough.

BUT they are not the end of your story.

👀 Quick story for you:

→ One of our current team applied for a senior role
→ They weren't the right fit for that spot
→ But they made a lasting impression

A few months later?

The perfect fit role opened up.

Who do you think the first person called was?

📌 Remember:

“No“ can often mean “not yet“

A no today can become a yes tomorrow.

You can't control everything in the hiring process.

But what you can control?

- Your attitude
- Your interactions
- Your relationships

Keep investing in these.

Your career is a marathon, not a sprint.

Every interaction is a stepping stone.

You got this ✌️✨

📌 Attention all job seekers: You are amazing!

THANK YOU for your patience and perseverance.

Being on the job hunt is not easy.

Getting through to Recruiters can be a challenge.

Thank you for putting thought and effort into your messages.

It really does go so so far! 💙

👀 If you haven't heard back from a Recruiter?

Here are three possible reasons why:

1. They may not have seen your message yet.

P.S. I appreciate a (kind) follow up message if it's been a week or so.

2. Your message might not have had a ton of context.

Did you reach out and specifically say what position you're interested in AND why you'd be a good fit based on their JD?

If not, you're making the Recruiter do the detective work, and they may or may not be willing to do that.

(The worst messages have no context AND ask when you have time to chat... don't be this person)

3. They might not think your experience aligns with what their company is looking for, or maybe you're outside of a timezone they're hiring in.

Quick tip for you:

→ When reaching out, lead with context and come prepared ready to standout and share why you're someone this company needs to consider.

Keep at it!

Believe in yourself.

Your dream job can be 1 call away.

P.S. About that dream job...
