Why Companies with Home Office boost their Success

It's a paradox: Employees work in many jobs more productive at home, but companies struggle to leverage and use this effect to increase their productivity. Why?

We still think in the rules of the Industrial Age - even famous innovators like Tesla, it's urgently time to rethink - we are since long in the Digital Age and should live the values of the Digital Age.

Let's break it down. How do you spend your time in home office?

Working, right.

- You start earlier because there is no travel time
- You work longer because you are in the flow and just don't stop
- You drink less coffee and make fewer breaks because there is no group of coworkers to talk with
- Lunch break is short because there is no group to chat with
- There is no in-between time when you just talk with someone you meet on the floor

By the way, we made the same experience with students at Quarero AG. Giving students freedom increases creativity, productivity, and quality and creates accountability - the Next Generation will not work in another way.

▶ The majority (around 83%) of employees will spend up to 33% of their workweek in meetings!

▶ The average employee spends at least 3 hours a week in meetings. 30% of workers report that they spend over 5 hours per week in meetings.

▶ Time spent in meetings has been rising by 8% to 10% every year since 2000.

▶ Organizations spend around 15% of their time in meetings. Surveys show that 71% of those meetings are unproductive.

▶ On average, employees participate in at least 8 meetings per week.

▶ 24 billion hours are wasted each year as a result of unproductive meetings.

▶ Unproductive meetings cause around $37 billion to be lost per year.

▶ Mondays are the day employees have the most meetings, whereas Wednesdays are when they have the longest meetings.

▶ On average, a corporate employee spends 4 hours preparing for and attending meetings per week.

How To Set Your Goals 🎯

How can you set your goals, and how can you make them right? There are different models that can give us at least some guidance:

🧠 SMART

SPECIFIC - target a specific area for improvement
MEASURABLE - quantify or at least suggest an indicator of progress
ASSIGNABLE - specify who will do it
REALISTIC - state what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources
TIMELY - specify when the result(s) can be achieved

✈ FAST

FREQUENTLY DISCUSSED - Goals should be embedded in ongoing discussions to review progress and provide feedback
AMBITIOUS - Objectives should be difficult but not impossible to achieve
SPECIFIC - Goals are translated into concrete metrics and milestones that force clarity on how to achieve each goal and measure progress
TRANSPARENT - Goals and current performance should be made public for all employees to see

🌊 CLEAR

Collaborative - Encourage teams to work together collaboratively
Limited - Limit the duration of time
Emotional - Emotional connection inspires energy and passion
Appreciable - Brake down into smaller goals so quicker and easier to accomplish
Refinable - Set a clear objective, but be flexible if the situation or new information changes the goal. Embrace, refine and modify the goals

❓ How do you set goals? What is your favorite method?

From Idea To Market: Building a startup means reinventing yourself every day

Reinvent yourself every day, or you get lost on the way. Speed matters, but also doing the right things and keeping the quality high (see video 😂).

🙋‍♀️ The Customer: Startups mean high flexibility, what you think about the customer is probably not exactly what the customer needs - this means being flexible to adjust according to the market need.

🏈 The Product: Your idea of your product will adjust and change over time. Parts of it will disappear, other parts will be replaced, and perhaps it even changes completely.

🖥 The Work: Startup means doing everything. One day you develop a system, the next day you work in sales, the third day you do the accounting and on the next day you work on your product strategy. No job can be more exciting.

💲 The Cash: A startup means not only taking care of the customers, but also the investors. Regular updates, board meetings, and sustainable plans on how to create long term cash-flow.

✨ The Marketing: Do your homework. Where are your customers located? How do you reach them? Why do they like you? Never underestimate the power of your network. Happy customers are the best marketing.

❓ What else matters?

Why Rejection is Learning and Boosts Growth

Rejection is a daily experience in the startup world. Selling your products, finding investors, searching for the perfect employees, finding the right partners, or selling your vision. All is connected with risk and rejection, but these are the biggest potentials for learning and can boost you to do better:

- ASK FOR FEEDBACK: Being an entrepreneur takes a thick skin because you will fail often. It may be small details that are disqualifying you from getting a yes, so ask for feedback.

- FIND YOUR PURPOSE: Purpose is pure motivation. Helping can open doors. Give and take brings balance.

- BE OPEN FOR CHANGE: View change as an opportunity for improvement. Change is the daily work of an entrepreneur.

- KEEP TRYING: Go and try, ask again and again. Perseverance matters.

- DON'T GET TOO FOCUSED ON YOUR IDEA: Don’t be afraid to refine your idea until the Business Model runs. Putting an idea into practice may take further testing and research or changing details.
