Safe and sustainable 💪
Yesterday I took my last #train journey of the year. I was hoping that the Covid situation would be better this winter, but the stricter regulations for public transport (in Germany, you have to be either recovered, vaccinated or tested) gave me some additional peace of mind and I enjoyed a relaxed trip home with some time to catch up on world news. And of course a sustainable choice, because sustainable mobility is only achievable with public transportation and rail at its core.

Wow! Team Egypt won! What began as a seed grew into Egypt’s new 2.000km high-speed rail system which received a prestigious Werner von Siemens Award in the Customer Impact category. Egypt’s 100 million+ inhabitants will receive a modern, sustainable, and safe railway system that will bring $2bn each year to the GDP of Egypt.
It was an unbelievable evening at the Siemens flagship awards and the overall winner is #sustainability and #innovation at Siemens for the future of our planet. Our Moving Egypt project was up against amazing competition with the first, at-scale deployment of a bi-directional charging system for the Ford F-150. And Self-Sustainable Islands by maximizing renewable resources up to 70% in Portugal’s island network. Entries in other categories included digital native factories and acoustic fingerprinting for dialysis machines. Incredibly proud to be part of this team. And what a team! #teamsiemens #MovingEgypt

ÖBB writing history today! Too bad I could not be present when ÖBB showed off their new Siemens Mobility night trains. Who would not want to jump into that bed and wake up in 🤔🤔🤔 lets say: Barcelona ☺️

Please stand back from the edge of the platform, the express train to the New Capital Station in Egypt is arriving! Amazing to see the construction progress being made at this central terminal which will be a key part of the new 2,000 km high-speed #rail network in Egypt as well as the heartbeat of the new administrative capital. It will be the home to approximately 6.5 million people and is one of 60 Egyptian cities that will benefit from reliable, safe, and sustainable high-speed rail in the future. #teamsiemens

Attention please, it is almost time for the departure of our Innotrans trains! One more coffee for the journey home. Thanks again to our incredible team who made #InnoTrans2022 possible. It has been an exhausting week for sure, but I received so much positive feedback about our solutions for a sustainable future. Lots for us all to reflect on and I will write more in the coming weeks as we get ready for COP27 Egypt in November.
