Just a reminder → it is not okay to ask one #fundraiser to:
💢 manage multiple special events during the year
💢 execute several peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns
💢 maintain and lead data entry/management in the CRM
💢 cultivate and maintain a portfolio of 100+ major gift donors and prospects
💢 lead fundraising committee of board
💢 create original digital content for online solicitations
💢 maintain all gift handling, recording, and acknowledgement processes
💢 write and submit dozens of foundation and government grants
💢 report on said foundation and government grants
💢 identify millions of dollars in new funding in a single year
… all under a Director of Development title and with *no* support system.
Not only is it impossible to do all of these tasks alone but it is certainly not sustainable.
Labels like “jack of all trades“ or “wearer of many hats“ are not compliments.
It is really a way of saying you're being asked to do too much.
