PEOPLE TO ATTRACT AND AVOID IN YOUR LIFE

Life is too short to surround yourself with the wrong people. In this video, I reflect on how to choose the people you should welcome into your life, and the people you should eliminate from your life. I propose three simple tests to evaluate people - peers, family, significant others, co-workers:

1. Saying to Doing Ratio: Does the person just talk, or do they get stuff done.
2.Taking to Giving Ratio: Is the person primarily a taker, or a giver?
3. Negativity to Positivity Ratio: Does the person radiate positive energy or does (s)he drain your energy?

The total score on these ratios = the Avoid/Attract Ratio for a person. I hope this is a useful guide for you to make better choices about the people you want to surround yourself with!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHATGPT! ADVENTURES IN THE GENAI TRADE

It is hard to believe it has just been a year since ChatGPT was unleashed upon the world. And what a year it has been! As a birthday Ode to ChatGPT, I show how I used GPT4 in five different ways in the past week, and five lessons I have learned over the past year of playing with ChatGPT:

USE CASES:

1.     Writing Cases: I wrote five MBA case studies along with five Teaching Notes in five days! I just need to be a good storyteller, and I let GPT4 generate the case context, the decision challenge, the company overview, synthetic data sets, and even the learning objectives and case debriefs. Without GPT4, this process might have taken me at least 5 months!

2.     Cooking: I used the Sous Chef CustomGPT to create a recipe for Masala Duck for Thanksgiving. I tweaked the recipe to my North Indian taste buds, added some twists, generated my shopping list, and even got a cool picture of the recipe from Dall-E.

3.     Keynote Speaking: I spoke to a group of Latin American CEOs last week. The topic I was asked to speak on was Sustainability and Business Leadership in uncertain times. I used ChatGPT to brainstorm, ideate, and generate talking points. Then I riffed on the themes. Smashing success!

4.     Planning a Vacation: My wife and I are going to Costa Rica over Christmas for a week. I used ChatGPT to decide what cities to visit in what order, what to see, where to stay, and where to eat. I generated a detailed itinerary with a route map.

5.     Build MohanGPT: I used the GPT Builder launched on November 6 to create a digital version of myself as a consultant. I am training the GPT on my thinking and style, and hopefully will have a virtual avatar for consulting ready soon!

LESSONS LEARNED

1.     Practice makes a Perfect Prompt Engineer.
2.     You cannot outsource something to ChatGPT that you cannot do better yourself.
3.     Value is in the hundred little things, not in the one big thing.
4.     We aren’t there yet with advanced data analysis.
5.     We have come a very long way.

I can’t wait for Year 2!
