BIG NEWS ALERT!

Hello everyone,
In the last couple of years, we've seen that the content creation space has boomed. Companies are building their brand through educational content, especially in Fintech and Edu-tech space. Multiple companies have reached out to me to create content for them. Along with my friends at News Line, we saw this as a massive opportunity.

Hence, we've been creating (whitelisting) content for other companies and now we’re taking this to the next step!

News Line has opened up a small studio in Surat for the same. We help companies with the face of their brand. Being in Surat helps us create content at very competitive prices. Along with that, we've started designing influencer marketing campaigns - we understand what content and which influencer works for your company.

One day you wake up, go to your bank and you find out that…

the money you kept in your bank locker that you were saving for your daughter’s wedding has been turned to dust because termites ate it all.

This is not a fictional story but has happened to far too many people.

A woman in Uttar Pradesh lost 18 lakhs.
Another woman in Udaipur lost 2.15 lakhs
A man in Vadodra lost 2.2 lakhs.Ā
An account holder from Chhattisgarh lost 1.5 lakhs.

All because termites ate the money.

So what is the bank’s responsibility in cases where there is damage to your valuables kept in the bank locker?

šŸ¦ As per the new locker rules, account holders can use bank lockers to store only legitimate items like jewelry and important documents. Cash, drugs, weapons, dangerous, perishable, or illegal items cannot be kept in a locker.

šŸ¦ In the cases of natural calamities or Acts of God like earthquakes, floods, thunderstorms, or where a customer’s negligence led to a loss - the banks are not liable to compensate the account holder.

šŸ¦ However, in cases of fire, theft, fraud by bank employees, etc where negligence can be attributed to the banks - they are liable to compensate you for any damage to the valuables in your locker. But this compensation is limited to 100 times your annual locker rent. So let’s say if the lady in case paid Rs 2000 as annual locker rent, even if somehow banks do compensate her - it will only be Rs 2000 X 100 times = Rs 2,00,000 against a loss of Rs 18,00,000.

Moral of the story: If you’ve got legitimate cash, never store it in a bank locker. Deposit them in a savings account and earn some interest over it as well instead of risking it... to be eaten by termites. For the current case, the investigation is still going on. Do you think banks will compensate the lady? Let me know what’s your take in the comments below.
