I remember when Mom shared with me last year that she was retiring from nursing and dedicating herself and her small life savings to feeding the homeless and hungry with tasty, healthy, high-end cuisine. I instantly responded, “I’m here to support you every step of the way.”

My mom was homeless and hungry as a young child. She shared that many days she lived off peanuts, soda, and people’s leftovers. She said, “I remember my experience as a child so vividly. My value, self-esteem and confidence were connected to someone else’s leftovers. There is trauma and pain subconsciously and consciously. I was always grateful, but I think about how I would have felt about myself receiving someone’s best and how that could have positively impacted my confidence to propel during those tough times. Those homeless and hungry deserve the best. So, I'm giving them my best, and I want this population to feel loved, empowered and energized to progress in life. This can happen through food!”

My mom launched her non-profit, One Less Worry Non Profit, in October 2021 and has fed about 4,000 people since. One Less Worry now feeds 100+ people every Tuesday.

I’m so proud of her accomplishments and the love that she injects back into the world every day. I took her out to celebrate receiving her first grant of $7,500.00 from the Rhode Island Foundation. I pray more grants and donations come pouring through, because she’s invested all her savings into her heart's purpose. If interested in donating to help drive the mission forward, then please head to www.onelessworryorg.com and donate.

Let me introduce you Gary Hoberman, CEO of Unqork and Founder of Hoberman Rockets. He is a leader that has always supported me since I joined his organization as VP, Global Inclusion at Unqork. He listened to my advice, amplified my voice, introduced me to leaders that would help propel my career and recently named me CEO of Aerodei.

Having a leader who recognizes the value of your work and is willing to invest in you can be a game changer in your career. Such a leader is not only focused on the bottom line, but they also prioritize their employees' growth and development.

When a leader invests in you, they are essentially putting their resources towards your professional growth, be it through training, mentorship, or providing you with opportunities to take on challenging projects. This shows that they believe in your potential and want to see you thrive in your role.

Furthermore, when a leader invests in you, it can have a ripple effect on your team and the organization as a whole. By demonstrating that they value their employees' development, they create a culture where everyone feels supported and encouraged to grow. This can lead to increased job satisfaction, productivity, and innovation.

His support led me to go beyond my job scope and develop a platform that would transform organizations by democratizing DEI across an organization.

In conclusion, a leader who invests in their employees is a valuable asset to any organization. If you have the opportunity to work with such a leader, it can have a profound impact on your career and the organization's success.
