An average of 79% of potential is lost in a team due to the interaction gap instead of creating synergy by combining their skills.
Confidence doesn't equal competence.
Silence does not equal incompetence.
But the real question is why some people are quiet? The typical answer would be that introverts need space, etc...true, but there are many more options that can be addressed:
- they don't feel psychologically safe
- they are demotivated
- they have hidden agendas
- they don't believe in themselves
- they don't believe in the company
- they are burnt out
- others have taken credit for their ideas
- others have ignored them too many times
- breaking the illusion of consensus is frowned upon
There might be so many more reasons and that is exactly my point. There is no assessment to point out exactly what the actual issue is, but it can be accurately measured where the problem is and how serious it is.
The solution cannot be delivered in 5 bullet points, it can only be co-created with the team by getting their insights through meaningful conversations driven by data and rooted in science.
Data without stories are powerless, stories without data are just noise. Stories with data provide insights, increase engagement, shape constructive behaviours and fuel growth mindset.
