Linkedin is full of BAD BUSINESS ADVICE.

Spewed by people who do a lot of thinking and not much doing.

5 of the worst pieces of advice I've seen and why:

1. Everyone should start a business.

Starting a business isn’t right for everyone.

95% of folks are better off getting a job.

It’s hard AF. Decisions are critical and plentiful. Risk is for real. Stress can be crippling. Delegation can be impossible for poor communicators.

Most folks don’t have what it takes.

2. Bad employees can be coached and you can help them improve.

Employees don't change.

Trying to help people who refuse to help themselves is a fools errand.

And it enables them and the problem grows.

A lof of people should be given up on and removed from your company right away.

Nothing crushes a good culture like your 10x folks having to deal with incompetence around them.

3. All the get rich quick schemes with Amazon FBA, short term rentals, etc.

Getting rich quick isn’t possible.

The media tells you the stories of the overnight successes.

But that’s all bullshit. It gets clicks but it doesn’t work that way for 99.99% of successful folks.

Most people get rich slowly over 10 or 20 years. Doing boring things and building just a bit more each day.

4. Innovation is the key and its all about the business idea!

You don’t need a new idea to start a business.

Do something a lot of folks are already doing and do it just a little bit better.

I think most people fail because they try to be too different.

Innovation is praised and we read books like Zero to One (the worst book in the history of the world) and try to create something totally new.

With a new market that needs educated and one you aren't even sure if it exists.

Instead: do something folks are already doing and do it just a bit better.

5. You have to be smart to get rich.

The key to success isn’t intelligence.

It’s sales.

If you can get uncomfortable and put yourself out there you’re half way there.

If you can be compelling and attract others to your way of thinking you’ll win.

LIFE is all about sales.

And a bonus:

Changing the world without any money is a fools errand.

You know who really influences the world we live in?

The folks with money.

Make money first, change the world later.
I've read over 200 self-help and business books.

A few things they won't teach you about success:

1. Life is too short to interact with folks who don't make your life better or make you better at life.

2. Perfectionists are at a huge disadvantage in this world.

Time is our most valuable resource. Efficiency and speed is way more important than perfect.

3. A career is like a series of games.

The key to winning is taking a step back early on and figuring out which game is worth playing and which one isn’t.

Too many people play the wrong games with stiff competition and shitty prizes and wonder why it’s hard af to get ahead.

4. You can earn great money in this world by working hard and getting good at your job.

You can earn 10x the money if you can assemble a team of people and make them good at their jobs.

5. People, on average, don't change.

Don't let your business, success or happiness depend on other people changing. Instead surround yourself with people who already have the mindset, habits and track record of success.

6. Being physically fit and strong is a huge part of overall happiness.

A wealthy man wants everything. A sick man wants one thing.

7. You can be late to the party and still get plenty of cake.

There is somebody entering basically every industry in the world right this moment who will get rich and be successful.

8. Ideas are worthless. Execution is everything.

9. It’s amazing how many incompetent people in this world earn amazing money because they aren’t insecure.

10. Contrary to popular belief:

This world is full of amazing people and opportunity for everyone.

Stop falling for the narrative that things are bad and that somebody else winning means you will lose. There is plenty to go around. Adopt an abundance mindset and cheer other people on when they win.
