Here's a complete breakdown of my journey:

๐…๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐‘๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ - ๐Ž๐๐‹๐ˆ๐๐„ ๐“๐„๐’๐“:
Online test was divided into two sections:

First Section contain 10 technical MCQs, belonging to OOPS, OS, DBMS, Networks, and SQL
Second Section contain 2 coding questions of medium-hard level.

๐Ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ๐ฌ:

After clearing the online test, I progressed to the onsite interviews, which consisted of 3 rounds.

โœ… Round 1(Technical Interview 1): 45- 50 min
My first round was pretty easy they asked me from topic I can ask question from, i told Linked-List so they asked 2 linked-list questions(easy to medium level) and told me to code it, I did then they asked some behavioral question and we discussed about my past projects in detail

โœ…Round 2(Technical Interview 2): 1 hour

This one seems really hard to me because they asked me everything from top to bottom, starting from two DSA question whose difficulty level is medium, they told me to code, I solved both of them, then they asked question from OS, DBMS, OOPS, SQL (not a single question they asked directly every time there are giving me some situation and asked me what you can use here, which data structure you can apply here, what is this situation called ) then asked some question from LLD (which i didn't have much idea about). The interview went for about 1 hour, at the end he asked whether I had any questions for him, I asked about his day-to-day responsibilities at Walmart and some other question which he answered in a very informative and polite manner.

โœ…Round 3(Hiring Manager/HR Round): 1 hr

This round is HR round, here I was asked to solve puzzle, then deep discussion on my college work, asked some leadership and behavioral question. All in all we have a very good discussion there.

Hoping that this would help the aspirants to prepare for this year! ๐Ÿš€

I know how demotivating rejections are because I have faced them before.

I realized that most engineers often just focus on problem-solving & DSA while preparing for interviews.

But when it comes to System Design, even the basics of it are not clear.

So, while preparing for the System Design round I focused on these things that turned out to be of great help

I made sure to have my foundation strong in concepts like DSA, database design, and networking.

I focused on understanding how different components (load balancers, caching, databases, etc.) fit together in a system.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Then to build my topics strong I made sure to ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—น๐˜† ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—ธ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜„๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜†.

I heavily practiced designing real-world systems and engaged in mock interviews.

This helped me understand trade-offs and decision-making processes in System Design.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Lastly, since I knew this round was all about ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—บ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐˜‚๐˜๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜€.

I sharpened my ability to express design choices clearly, by improving my communication skills.

And I feel the most common reason, why most engineers fail is because they canโ€™t express their ideas effectively.

However, with the right approach, nothing is difficult to prepare.

SDE 2 or SDE 3 system design interviews can be easier to succeed if you practice, improve your communication skills, and deepen your technical knowledge.

Now, if you feel stuck at any point and require need of any help. Iโ€™d suggest letting the veterans at Bosscoder Academy help you.

1st rejection, 2nd rejection, 3rd rejectionโ€ฆ Pressure started building on me.

Itโ€™s not that I wasnโ€™t preparing for the interviews, Iโ€™ve always been a hard worker.

I lacked somewhere and needed to identify and work on those aspects to clear technical interviews.

Eventually, I identified my problems that are faced by many other learners too, so sharing them here -

Majorly, I found 3 reasons for constant failure in technical interviews -

โšก Not having a solid grasp on the fundamental concepts and problem-solving techniques
โšกUnfamiliarity with some concepts asked in interviews - this was majorly due to unstructured prep
โšกLack of mock interviews - which is a great way to build confidence and know our weak points

So how to overcome these pitfalls?

๐Ÿ“Build consistency in solving problems in dsa
๐Ÿ“Figure out the right preparation strategy and make a structure
๐Ÿ“Get someone who can both mentor you, take your mock interviews and give feedback

And frankly, talking to them has cleared a lot of things, for me. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Like, a few of them were even from non-technical backgrounds and some were from Service-based companies.

So, obviously, everyoneโ€™s journey was unique, however, 2 things remain Constant in everyoneโ€™s story โ†’

โญ PERSEVERANCE TO GROW
And
โญ CONSISTENCY

But there were moments in their preparation journey where they:
โ†’ Became inconsistent for a while, or
โ†’ Faced rejections before clearing the interview,

Even for me before cracking Walmart, I had to go through this Rejection Phase myself. ๐Ÿ˜“

I got rejected by 2 top PBCโ€™s, but what helped me was my Motivation to do more.

But, I took each of the rejections as a learning experience and tried to improve myself.

โ†’ Like when I was in Microsoft, I dedicated specific hours in the whole day towards building my skills, be it problem-solving or DSA. ๐Ÿ’ช

โ†’ Next, I did was to give myself a target for the day and keep a regular track of my progress. ๐Ÿ™Œ

This helped me greatly, understand where I stood, and where I wanted to be.

โ†’ Got consistent with my PRACTICE on Leetcode & took regular Mock Interviews with mentors to help me prepare for actual interviews.

And yes, it was my dedication and Consistency that helped me crack Walmart today!

However, most working professionals fail at this last step only, and fail during the tech interviews.

If thatโ€™s the case with you, Iโ€™d suggest taking help from industry experts who can help you build consistency, at Bosscoder Academy.

Being a working professional, I understand that switching jobs requires more than just motivation.

The main ingredient is time, you need to know how to use it well.

For that, you need to have all the information handy and work on your upskilling along with your job.

Knowing the interview process beforehand helps a lot as well.

This helped me greatly in planning my approach. So, hereโ€™s what I did โ†’

๐Ÿ”ธ I started by learning a programming language. Be it C++, Java, or Python. (This took me around 1 month to understand the basics).

๐Ÿ”ธ After this I moved on to work on the technical rounds based on Data Structure and algorithms.

I began by mastering fundamentals first and then moved on to advanced level.

To be better prepared for interviews I consistently solved problems on LeetCode.

๐Ÿ”ธ After getting a hold of this I picked CS fundamentals subjects like OOps, CN, OS, and DBMS.

๐Ÿ”ธ Once, all this was done, I focused on System Design (LLD & HLD) as well.

Now I understand that time is a big issue for working professionals and affects consistency.

So, I would like to suggest Bosscoder Academy, for easy preparation of technical interviews.
