What is that one underutilised way to build your network on LinkedIn?

Start commenting on other people's posts.

It is one of the biggest underrated ways to grow your network on the platform.

By commenting, I mean adding insightful comments on other people's posts that provide some value to the readers.

Let's say you see a post on 5 ways to build your confidence, but you know of another one that has helped you, then put it down in the comments.

That way you add something meaningful which could help other people too.

Anyone who reads that post, may come across your comment and if they find it good, they may wish to connect with you and that’s how you build your network.

What else helped you in building your network?

Completed 6 months at Mamaearth recently!

It’s been an absolutely enriching experience filled with a lot of learnings.

For a fresher, here are some things that I feel can be beneficial in the initial months of the job:

1) Building a good network:

Talking and connecting with people in your office helps you to learn and understand new things.

2) When in doubt, ask:

There are a lot of things that you won’t be aware of fresh out of college.

It’s best to ask those questions and clarify the doubts that you have.

3) Organise your day:

Make a to-do list of all the things that you have to do on that day.

Start completing them according to their order of priority and tick them off.

What other advice would you give to a fresher to make the most of the initial months at their job?

4 musings from the 1st term at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow:

1) It’s okay to not be good at everything:

There will be people from all walks of life who would be really good in different things like sports, dance, academics etc. Don’t get intimidated by it, rather learn from them and embrace what you are good at.

2) Time management is very important:

Juggling between quizzes, group presentations, exams and so many more things becomes difficult and that is where prioritisation helps to make it easier.

3) Friendships are golden:

You meet few people who not only end up becoming a very strong support system but also stay with you through thick and thin.

4) Take out time for yourself:

Between the hectic schedule, you often get busy with a lot of things and forget to take out time for your own self. Do take breaks to relax and rejuvenate yourself.
