One of the most effective self-awareness exercises is to use an emotions chart (Marc Brackett's is awesome) or bullseye (like the photo I've created) and place 'ticks' throughout the week when you find yourself experiencing a listed emotion.
As your self-awareness and language develops, to add-change-switch-delete words so that your bullseye is more accurate for you.
Proficiency in self-awareness leads to excellence in self-mastery; because one cannot manage what one is not aware of.
