This is my best mate & business partner, Gordy.

10 years ago, he was driving a beat-up van, fixing washing machines.

Today, he owns a hotel with me in Spain.

I’ve known Gordy since I was 17.
↳ He’s been my best mate for 4 decades.

Back in the day, he used to come to my parties, always on the lookout for a good time.

But during the week, he was a washing machine engineer.
Driving his little Hoover van, fixing dishwashers, grafting away.

And I always used to joke:

“Gord, when I make my 1st million, I’ll give you £100k.“

I never thought it would actually happen!

So when my business took off, instead I rang him up:

“Gord, I’ve got a job for you in Spain. Just 2 conditions… ditch the girlfriend & the dog.“

(He wasn’t too happy about the dog part.)

And now, he’s gone from fixing washers to owning half a hotel!

He still hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing 😂
Still fixing everything in sight.

But the best part?

- He knows that hotel inside out.
- He’s built a life he never expected.
- I’ve had my best mate beside me the whole way.

To me, that’s what I call success.

Being able to help the people who’ve always had your back.
↳ Giving them a shot at something bigger. Something better.

Success isn’t about making a few quid & buying nice things.

It’s about backing the people who’ve been there since day 1.

Gordy? Proud of you, mate. And glad I could drag you into this absolute madness 😂🧡

What you see:

57-year-old owner of multiple businesses, including O Beach, Wi-Ki-Woo Hotel & Bam Bu Ku with 1400+ staff across our companies.

What you don’t see:

1983: Kicked out of school. No qualifications.

1984-1990: Hustling in Gran Canaria, learning the ropes on the street.

1990-1992: Selling tickets for pub crawls, raves & clubs across Spain.

1993-1995: Opened a wine bar. Shut it 2 years later.

1995: Back to the Canaries. Broke. Starting again.

1999-2000: Millennium party? Total disaster.

2001–2004: Took a PC course. 1st one I ever finished. Started Tru’s Do’s. Fell in love. Had a baby. Bought a house.

2006-2008: Opened Cloud 9 in Hampton Court. Lost the bar. Lost the house. Lost it all. Again.

2007: Still throwing parties. Still holding on. Met Wayne Lineker. Pitched him Linekers Ibiza. We became business partners. That’s when the next chapter began & things took off.

I’m not sharing this to be deep or motivational.

Just wanted to show that most “overnight success” stories take years.

Focus on your own lane, your own growth.

That’s what matters.

5 years ago, it was just a dusty bit of land behind O Beach.

Today, it’s 1 of San Antonio’s newest hotels, Bonito Ibiza Hotel 🎉

Back when we were planning O Beach, 3 plots were up for grabs:

1/ The 1 we ended up building O Beach on.
2/ The land next door (now Bam-Bu-Ku).
3/ And the land behind it.

We could only afford one. So we chose No.1.

But I always wanted to turn the land behind O Beach into a hotel.

Years passed. Someone else bought it.

Then the guy who bought it came to us & said, “I’ll buy it, but only if you come in as operational partners and help us with branding.”

So we did just that!

- Built it from scratch
- I came up with the name
- We planned the design together

(And we even ended up taking on the old Reckos hotel behind it too.)

It took 5 years to come to life & was a big investment, but we’re so happy with how it turned out! 🧡

Of course, it comes with all the right bits:

- Good vibes
- Spa, gym and pool areas
- Rooftop restaurant with sunset views

And… free entry to O Beach every day before 3PM if you book direct.

Funny how things come full circle.
