I’m happy to announce the launch of the new AWS Europe (Zurich) Region. This expansion brings #AWS closer to our Swiss customers who have been innovating with us for more than 16 years. The cloud was once a single point on a map, today it is all around us.

AWS AppFabric is now generally available. This no-code service will help our customers and partners integrate, manage, and secure the most widely used productivity apps in a single location with just a few clicks. We’re also looking forward to a generative AI feature that will automatically perform tasks and generate insights across applications, boosting employee productivity.

This week we launched the #AWS Europe (Spain) Region. Access to technology, especially infrastructure, is one of the greatest drivers of innovation. For this reason, it’s exciting whenever AWS expands to a new region, because it means that our customers have more access to reliable, scalable, and secure cloud services. Now, go build!

As we wrap up another re:Invent, I find myself reflecting on one of my key tech predictions for 2025 — one that feels particularly close to my heart. In my conversations with emerging businesses and organizations, I’ve noticed that today’s builders are increasingly guided by a higher purpose. They’re using technology not just to drive profit, but to address some of humanity’s toughest challenges and create meaningful, positive change across the globe.

My time with our Now Go Build CTO Fellows at re:Invent only reinforced this perspective. They stand as proof that it’s possible to align technical innovation with values-driven impact while building sustainable careers. As technologists, this offers us an inspiring path forward. Ask yourself: how can your own work contribute to making the world better? Could you lend your expertise, share your skills, or join forces with those already making a difference?

I had the honour of presenting this year’s Go Build Award to Rossana Suarez, an outstanding AWS Hero from the LATAM region. In the last year, Rossana has hosted more than 100 AWS tech sessions, growing her community 200x from 50 to 10,000 developers. She also launched 295DevOps bootcamp to make complex tech accessible, especially for women in DevOps and security.

Kudos to all 273 Heroes across 57 countries for pushing cloud technology boundaries and keeping AWS customer-obsessed. Congratulations, Rossana and all Heroes. Now, go build!
