I got rejected five times by my dream employer Boeing ✈️ 😔 I filled dozens of online applications and spent hours in line at the Purdue University career fair. 🚂

I also flew to three conferences. Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers stood in line again for extra chances to impress.

Each time I came back stronger and more prepared. In the last three, I received interviews and was so close.

The moral of the story you only lose if you stop trying. I did not 🛑 , and now I work at my dream job in my dream position.

Some people would have given up after so many NOs and believed they are not good enough, but I knew I was good, and all I needed was one YES.

I remember receiving the offer call and being speechless 😶 the recruiter probably thinking I wasn’t excited 😆 I hung up and cried. My wife, Elizabeth Morales came home, hugged me, and I cried again. I couldn’t believe this Nontraditional College Success was going to the #1 Aerospace company in the 🌎. ❤️ This wouldn’t have been possible without all the people that helped and believed in me.

A land of immigrants where if you get educated and work hard, you can change not just your life but the generations ahead of you.

I genuinely believe we are living the American dream.

We both come from humble beginnings and are now college graduates with extraordinary jobs.

Her dad grew up in poverty, running around barefoot. My dad worked in his mother's cantina as a kid.

Our daughter gets to grow up with health insurance, a college savings account, in a safe neighborhood and with an excellent education. Things that we don't take for granted and our parents didn't have.
